Wannabe big tiddy goth GF. At least as feline as the profile pic implies.

"I'm trying to figure out which scifi novel you stepped out of"
~ screwlisp

"Adorably dense"
~ The Witch of Crow Briar

I miss crows. Crows are nice.

Profile picture: a charcoal sketch of a cat sitting on a tree-stump, looking away from the viewer.
The cat's head is tilted in a way that makes it look contemplative but, honestly, she probably just slipped a mental cog and now her brain is in some kind of phantom neutral.

@GuitarSith@fosstodon.org Don't let it get you down. Some people prefer one or the other, and some songs/genres suit one or the other; the "thou shalt (not) use a pick" absolutists are to be ignored. Andy Fraser (of Free) quipped that he had it backwards, because he always played bass with a pick, and guitar with his fingers. At the other end of the talent-scale, I prefer playing bass with my fingers because I'm just very tactile, but I reach for a pick when covering something like So Alive because it just doesn't work without one. Ronnie Wood played bass like a lead guitar on Maggie May, and that's still getting airplay, so 🤷‍♀️ do whatever works. @Rob@musicians.today @ambergrey@mastodon.social

@joannaholman A tiny (5cm x 5cm) pad of Hahnemühle sugar-cane paper. Tiny because I wanted to test it before investing in more. That stuff is perfect for some of my brush-and-ink work. And yes, I did read the question; the right combination of drawing materials is in fact a quality-of-life issue for me :)

@spacerog@mastodon.social 20 years later, we took down a large portion of it just by b0rking a network change. This wasn't even in an ISP, so I can affirm your claim on practical grounds. No, I don't remember which member of the team pushed that change, only that it wasn't me :) "House of cards" is an apt description.

@theleftistlawyer@mastodon.social Related: conflating "disincentivise" with "prevent." I have tried and failed to explain to a member of my own family that legal consequences are predicated on somebody having actually done the thing in question, which does not satisfy my understanding of "to prevent."

@rmondello@hachyderm.io I'm pretty sure the correct answer comes from those pointing to first-responders, but for me it translates to "the vehicles around me are the last thing I'm paying attention to." So as a motorcyclist, it's a handy warning that this one's likely to do something even more unpredictable than the rest.

@atte @pestojaguar A great source of inspiration is the Other People's Music series of posts by @etherdiver. Another good source is @tibtvnowplayingbot (The Indie Beat TV). There are some venerable and truly inspiring musicians on fedi. If it's gear you want to discuss, the #gearsquad tag is a great one to follow. An important thing to understand about the fediverse is that it's based on interaction and a sense of community, rather than the celebrity-broadcast model. So join in with conversations where you have something to add, and follow people who seem interesting. Unfollowing is also perfectly valid, when you realise somebody isn't your cup of tea after all. If you want/need advice about something, post your question, and prepare to receive Opinions :)

@TimmyMac If you're refilling cartridges then you can use bottled ink, just like with piston converters, so it's a wash on that front. I like the convenience of piston fillers, but then I also stick with the same ink in a given pen for long periods. When the converter's close to empty, I just refill without any additional fuss. The reverse flow involved in sucking ink into the pen also helps clean the system, so you can go for longer periods without disassembling and cleaning. My partner's prone to switching colours, so quite likes the flexibility of syringe-filling a cartridge.
