The thing I love about 'Tugboat' Wilkinson is that he defies convention. You look at him and see that he does not have a physique which says 'he's an athlete'. Yet he competes and has success. He's a major league pitcher.
He's held the Dodgers to one hit through two innings so far today. That's not to say that the Giants will win, and who knows what his stats will end up looking like. L.A., it has to be said, is formidable.
But he goes out there and surprises people. Changes minds. I love that.

I think my average back then was around 175. Today, I got a 79 and a 115. Hahahaha, but I had a smile on my face.

I'm reading a really interesting article about recording a sound source using the Mid-Side (M/S) technique instead of normal stereo. Part of it makes use of a bidirectional/figure-8 microphone, which I'd never heard of before.
I process audio using Mid-Side all the time, but I've never recorded it this way. Didn't know you could!
If you're not familiar with Korneff, they're a company run by audio professionals which makes software plugins for music-making. Crucially, they also regularly publish how-to articles on a range of music production tasks. Always very useful, fun reads.

@allanfriedman @andybrwn I’ll chime in here to say that the same virus also causes Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which paralyzes half of your face for some period of time. I woke up one morning and thought I’d had a stroke. Imagine half of your face not working at all for seven months. That was me.
So yeah people, get the vaccine. I got it later and I’m happy for it.

@Cuddy2977@mastodon.world well, when she was a kitten, both I and the adoption tech at the shelter thought she might be Maine Coon.
But, she never got beyond the size of an average cat. Her legs are short, by comparison. She walks around with her fluffy tail straight up in the air, and her fur is super soft. She's also the friendliest cat I've ever had.
I've been thinking that she's maybe Siberian. But, I don't know.

@andrew773 @tayfonay well, Biden said straight up that he was a capitalist, and I have a hard time imagining Obama not being one as well. They’re always going to side with big business interests. At this point, it’s what the Dem party does.
Also early on, it seemed like a lot of people viewed him as a sort of messiah, and his vision and oratory skills encouraged that. But obviously when you’re president, you have to work with congress and the judiciary. He was a consensus builder, not someone to ram his goals through congress. His vision gave way to compromise.

One of the defining issues of our times: older Americans, living longer cuz of advances in healthcare, are holding onto their jobs as well as their wealth and influence, and as a result are delaying the inheritance of those things by the generations which follow them.
What to do about it? How to share resources, upward mobility and generational agency while building a system of care which all generations can benefit from as they age?
