i can't remember what age i was when i realised that the purpose of TV programmes on commercial channels was to make you watch the ads, but... that realisation has stayed with me. any platform that delivers ads beomes an ad delivery platform sooner or later. all its other purposes are subordinated to the need to make dividend

@HopelessDemigod 40MB - of blessed memory! it came in a Trigem 88s¹, iirc, which also came with a copy of MS-DOS 3.30, which could only talk to 2¹⁶ sectors per partition - so i had to format it as either 8MB and 32MB, or two 20MB, partitions in order to use all of it.
¹ similar to the ComputerLand BC88 - indeed, part of the same family - but in a slimline case (two drive slots high, and only about twice as wide as a 5¼" drive) with a 5-slot 8-bit-only backplane up the side, and the same CPU (upgraded to 10MHz), floppy/RAM and MDA/CGA boards that the BC88 was built around
