@mwl@io.mwl.io @sng@bsd.network @lattera@bsd.network but practically speaking: power density. Traditionally 15KW per rack was crazy high, limited by cooling capabilities - but these hyperscaler/AI faciltiites are 120KW per rack. It’s like a different planet.

According to sloppy Internet results, Canada is unique in making it a compound word - except in all the texts that say it's absolutely only ever 2 words.
Anyone in the #Ottawa / #Gatineau areas want a full-height (40-something RU) 19" relay #rack, that's 10-32 threaded.
I could deliver - if sufficiently motivated.
Note a relay rack is a 2-post rack for short-depth switches, patch panels, and equipment meant to be rack-mounted from mid-points. It's not good for servers, and UPSes would need specific rails for a mid-mount.
(Eatons don't *need* them tho, the 5 & 9 series have mid-mount threading.)

@ZenHeathen@beige.party this is where we get into prescriptivism vs descriptivism; there's plenty of evidence (and debate thereof) of both spellings. Language evolves, and what makes the compounding of it ... incorrect? It's easy to be an armchair lexicographer, but linguistics is much heavier. I am neither.

I've got all flavours of Juniper from EX2200 to EX4500, several Arista DCS7050 flavours (including copper 10G), a couple Mikrotik, HP/Aruba Instant-On, a couple UniFi, a few EdgeSwitch, maybe even some Omada.

@feld in all seriousness: modular duct bank systems; I see this in labour (aka union) territories/shops where hiring an elechicken to add a twist lock isn't worth it, so they just snap in a pre-fab module onto the buss bars.

However I *also* run LibreNMS (for trends), Gatus (for public display, replacing UptimeKuma), UNMS, deadman + ttyd... I miss SmokePing.
But we'll be doing Prometheus within a year probably replacing most of the above. Except where it doesn't ;)
