IIUC, currently there are two, maybe three substantial armies in the world with actual experience of drone war. The Russians are the second best.
I've been expecting Putin to stop trying to advance in Ukraine and go to a defensive posture for a while. That would free up experienced drone ops and infantry, plus whatever armour they can now muster, to redeploy against the Baltics.
He can't win in UKR and he desperately needs a win. So, this year, before the autumn rains.

My aunt had some success with the clumping sort with a splitting wedge and a sledgehammer, reduced it down to manageable chunks. But eventually she got the whole lot dug up and concreted over. Hopefully that will sort it out.

Not the professionals. I suspect it's that the politicians worry about damaging the illusion of American military supremacy, much more than they worry about the actual military people and equipment. You can trace that tendency back at least as far as Vietnam.

What level of energy release is needed to be visible to Terrestrial astronomers? Pretty big, and increasing rapidly with distance.

Look up "Desert Pink". IIRC this is what happens when USAAF sand-coloured paint gets exposed to desert sunshine for several months (1942-3, notably on the B-26). It happened enough that there's a name for it, so it can't have been that uncommon.
As far as tanks go, IIUC it's more likely dust and mud. I have seen photos of German armour in Russia being smeared with mud as camouflage (I think related to thaws in early winter, after the vehicles had been overpainted white).
