@futurebird@sauropods.win Speaking as somebody who hunted a lot from about 12-22. Trophy hunters are weird. But, for example, Ducks Unlimited is one of the biggest and most effective conservation orgs in the country. Deer hunting is an important part of herd management. The very short version. If you don’t cull the herd then animals starve to death. So you attempt to issue permits that allow you to keep the herd in balance. Obviously this is a very short and incomplete explanation. So, like most things in life, it’s complex. But even as a kid I never liked the people who were primarily after trophies. To put it in modern terms the vibes were off.
