To all the #developers that love #ai and say how awesome it is to generate #code. I have one question for you. How do you suppose to cope with the energy and water consumption? No clue if a technology that waste enormous amounts of water and energy is a great thing to have if thats the case why don't all humans have super computers in their house? Furthermore how do you think will people with less income cope with that technology. I don't personally think that tokens will get cheaper.

@richardjh@phpc.social so am i right that #perl and #php and #lua and #lisp and #forth are the only ones left without bigtech dominating and deciding where languages go.

Whats the point of mega campuses for tech companies? Imagine driving 1 - 2 hours to work living 8+ hours there and drive back for 1 - 2 hours imho 2-4 hours of your life simply wasted! More so the destruction of the planet + the best part just to sit there and talk to people in diffrent countries. #work #treatusasadults

So the entire #devcommunity loves to be dependent on big tech for making decissions and doing their jobs. So relying on #frameworks and tools made by bigtech is not enough no we love to get to choose from 5 big players to do the job we loved. I don't get that. Thats to be honest just a big trap we are going inside. No one will ever be able to replicate a system that big tech did with #ai on their own. The problem was in the past and nowadays always the compute that has to power those imennse datacenters to give you the answere to most of the times obvious questions like "can you generate the code to compare two dates" or "hey chatgpt can you please center the div for me"

Really #techies i don't get what makes you think that this is a future we want to face where 5 companies decide if you have a successfull product or not.

@jack story of my life 99% of companies work like this. Best case is if you implement monitoring everyone wants it nobody knows how to use it or what it tells you.

@cwebber i would love to tell this guy in the twitter post. "I would rather read the opinion of an ai about that topic than reading your opinion about this topic". EDIT: I'm pretty sure this entire bubble will pop and we just get something out of it like rad tools that also died slowly in the end. Reinforcment learning where people could "teach" a system what replies are good was allready testen by microslop looong ago. And it lead to a nazi anti feminism war loving shithead system. And now we are doing the same with more data

@sterpeto@social.vivaldi.net this is exactly what i have in mind since a lot of time now. I think on this behalf yes fraweworks help in certain cases but look at all the stuff we have react, vue, ember ... you name it or the same for backend stuff in the web. It boils down to one problem. Boilerplate reduction. Most of the code you have in those frameworks is boilerplate. Yes some try to remove it with code generators but if the code is in your codebase its your problem. Now think about the ai stuff its the same but even worse. In my opinion if a computer can "generate" the code. Why can't it be done on the fly. I'm thinking there more of like templates or better to say macros in lisp. All this code getting generated and stuff could be simply boiled down to macros right. But back to your topic yes most of the frameworks or tools or libraries that are in use today just strip away simple parts of your coding journey and i often tend to try to understand how the framework does it and in the end most of the time you don't need a framework :D. So yes you are right in certain parts.
