@m3tti@functional.cafe my last job was that. An hour's drive each way to sit in an office of sales advisers, noisy; like trying to work in a train station.
The rest of my team were in a different office and I only saw them on teams.
How that was supposed to be more productive than working from home, not sure.
I don't mind driving but 10 hours a week in a car is not great.
A favourite memory was watching the mandatory training video on the companies commitment to reducing carbon impact.
I left that job.

From 2020:
"GitHub will also integrate npm to improve the security of the open source software supply chain, and enable you to trace a change from a GitHub pull request to the npm package version that fixed it"
https://tfir.io/microsoft-acquires-another-open-source-company-github-to-buy-npm-inc/
How's that working out?
https://blog.cyberdesserts.com/npm-security-vulnerabilities/
This stuff is hard when you *only* have the backing of an entire industry and a company as large as Microsoft behind it.

Copilot seems to do a reasonable job in doing this by default (there is a belief that if enough QA gates could be added it could be prevented, the same belief that next spin I will get 3 bar)
But generally everything I have written over the last 20 years would be suitable.
Obviously this code is not publicly available as I store it locally in project.old project.old.old and project.final project.final.thisone files which are not backed up anywhere.

It was a Friday.
It was dark, wet and cold outside. But for 2minutes and 13 seconds nothing broke. Anywhere. Globally. No errors were logged. No alerts were triggered. All was well.
Then Kevin pushed to production (right before the weekend) and it all went tits up. Normality was restored.
(shh, it's a secret)

Terminator (https://gnome-terminator.org/) is worth a look as you can split screens and run multiple gnome terminals in one window, which is sort of useful.

@sean@scoat.es I was at a drive through with a robot and I completed the order and said, "that's it thanks. Love you, bye" to make my daughter laugh with my silliness.
I was given my order at the next windows. Said thanks and the young lad said "thank you, love you too".
My daughter was so embarrassed. Made me laugh.

@asgrim@phpc.social to be fair though, it only looks bad because of the facts and the data.
If you can look past that and keep the faith, it really isn't all that bad.

@SRAZKVT@tech.lgbt @booklordofthedings@social.lybry.net I worked in social housing and was using informix 4gl from around 2001 to 2006.
I actually have fond memories of that time. But the application was very well documented both the code and user guides.
It is what got me into Unix, which led me to install Linux at home, which ...
Well it has been good for me.

Last year was noticeably fewer and this year almost none.
Most obvious measurement is the lack of windscreen splats.

Do it now but be warned at least half the questions are about AI.
It gets tedious quickly, but only takes ten minutes to get through it.
