Ha-ha-ha-ha, no, it's not THAT bad, I think it's about average. We had worse — a vaccine that, according to nearly unanimous opinion of the scientific community, couldn't work even in theory — there was simply nothing in it that could. Yet, people were getting vaccinated with it for a few months, until it was kicked off the list of recommended vaccines with a scandal.
However there was so much politics involved that I'm not entirely sure we can trust any of these trials. To me it seems that all the vaccines introduced were lacking and in the end it wasn't vaccinations that stopped the virus. Likely lockdowns helped containing it and many of those in the groups of highest risk simply died during the first year or got ill but recovered — but the vaccines weren't there yet to help them.
Among army servicemen in Russia vaccination with Sputnik was mandatory and men of the working age who couldn't work remotely were also seeking vaccination, so they could return to their jobs — later some of them could have signed a contract and joined the army. And then they died — in the war, vaccination had nothing to do with it of course. That's what my joke was about

There is a way to update venv to a different Python version, AFAIR you have to run python binary you wish to upgrade to with "-m venv" in virtual environment directory, something like "/usr/bin/python3.11 -m venv ." — and you won't have to re-download all the dependencies.

I think that's effect of a low base. Wired home Internet in Russia used to be cheaper and faster than anywhere in Western Europe — because local ISPs build their networks from the ground up using latest equipment, in economically developed countries ISPs are neither economically interested in upgrading all of their equipment, not it's easy to carry out — they do it gradually as equipment becomes unsupported or breaks.
Same with pricing — in less economically-developed countries ISPs are basically creating that market, so they want to get as many customers on board offering affordable prices, otherwise people won't even be sure they need that. In Europe people know precisely what they are paying for, having no Internet connection is not an option for them.

I've never seen a distro where n attempts locks out the account by default, it just introduces random delay before you can retry — to slow things down, making brute force attacks take eternity.
But if you can use su — it means you're already in, so you can do as you please and I might be wrong about that, but I believe same rules apply — random delay gets introduced at some point.

I think most just don't have big homes and karaoke is one of the easily accessible and affordable places where you can be more or less "alone" with your date — other than something like love hotel, but it's not what they do in the early stages of dating

Cool! Their design is interesting, at least their phones stand out unlike most on the market today. I wanted something like that, but with a headphone jack. Absence of it seemed kinda odd for upper-midrange phones and I hoped that maybe one day they consider a model with one.
But then I learned that Nothing started as a company with wireless headphones — that was their very first product! And I've given up :marseysigh:

You are comparing two very different things. In case with fiction books you are not supposed to navigate within a page easily, maybe vaguely remember where it was on the page, unlike with code.
When you are editing printed text on the other hand, or compiling quotes, so you can find and use them later — in other words things that require easily finding the precise location on the page, very adult people, who mean serious business :marseysuit: , start using stationary that comes in bright "childish" colours: those acidic markers — often several at once on the same page, colourful arrow-shaped stickers, etc.
I mean, you can probably get away without any of this, but why would you? To appear grown up and cool like those anime schoolgirls drinking canned black coffee from vending machine?
Even before colour printing was invented non-fiction books that contained well-structured text started relying on fonts with different weights and cross-hatched shapes — to make up for the absence of colour. Which wasn't easy with technology of the time, no one was doing it for fun. Nowadays colour printing became more affordable — not to the point of ubiquity, but you can already find expensive editions of technical books using colour.
You can have personal preference and that is okay, but never dismiss colour as something unimportant and purely decorative — it's as good a visual anchor as any other means.
By the way, does your "adult" act sit right with using nyan-cat as progress indicator? No, I'm not leaving you alone with that one! Is it animated? Would be cool if it was — you know, for that "strictly work" focused mode when you want no distractions :marseysmug3:
