I cannot recall a time in the last 40 years when I was less inspired to make and share things on the internet. 🙁
#Scheme is my top desert island programming language, and one of the reasons I've been shipping Clojure code for the last ~17 years is that it's approximately a commercially viable scheme dialect with an active community†.
These days, I'm seeing less commercial interest in Clojure and really great work being done by schemers, like:

... and wonder about going home 🤔
† don't get me wrong, I like the immutable data structures and concurrency primitives too!
“The UI is clean. The API is RESTful. The architecture diagram is beautiful. The outputs are wrong. Nobody checks because nobody on the team knows what correct outputs look like. They’ve never looked at the data. They’ve never computed a baseline.”

Relatable:
“The intellectually lazy overuse of neural nets killed my interest in Computer Vision. The crypto-bros took my interest in Cryptography Engineering away. Now, the slop jockeys take away my interest in general computing as they cover everything in a thick, oily residue of Silicon Valley soot, smearing the collective art project that was free and open-source into a blurry mess.”

Let’s do a thread of what we consider to be the best things on the Internet. I'll start with two: Wikipedia and OpenStreetMap.
Given recent cinematic news, I’ll offer again this old essay of mine that touches on a previous interpretation of the Odyssey that took even greater liberties…
CERN’s KiCad component library now open source — great resource for open hardware hackers.

We took a woodblock printing workshop today. I think I’m going to try some tile system to CNC machine experiments to produce woodblocks for patterns.
“The thing that just comes clear from ancient DNA is that the people who lived in any one place a thousand years ago and 5000 years ago are almost never directly ancestral to the people who live in that place today.“

I've been working on something that involves a bit of shell automation this week. @borkdude@mastodon.social's Babashka is such a treat in that context!
#clojure
Love to see this, and I’m in the process of doing the same thing…

I've been using gandi for domain name registration for over 20 years now. Am I missing out on some great alternative?
