Josh

@CatherineBabault@mastodon.social We here in the UK are currently importing wood from Canadian old growth forests to burn as "sustainable" fuel in ex-coal power plants (Drax). Like, what the actual fuck

@gbraad@mastodon.social They look at everything! ☹️

@TheresaReason@socialbc.ca So many men are fucked, and I say that as a man. I don't know if its a power thing or what, obviously there's a wider cultural thing going on as well but yeah, its all madness. The limited liability corporation as a concept channels the absolute worst instincts of humanity, I reckon.

@dgar@aus.social I really thought this was going to be a Technology Connections reference 😅

@CatherineBabault@mastodon.social It's mad really when you put it like that. There's so much land with new growth forests where the old, actually important forests were already destroyed. But companies still lay waste to the irreplacable old growth because it gets them a bit more profit(??).. it really is insanity.

@ohmu@social.seattle.wa.us When I joined, I didn't feel all that old. But decadal thresholds have a way of, well, mixing things up... @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social

@Blender@mastodon.social The complete picture? The association is bad enough on its own ☹️

@Craigp It definitely has put me off recommending it to people. Krita is much better, and it's also fun and non-corporate which is possibly the same spirit originally intended with GIMP but... 😬

@harib_murshidi@mastodon.social Neither! 🙂

@alzimon@mastodon.nl I think there's a real spread across all age ranges to be honest. I hear younger people in my work being all enthusiastic about AI quite often - but then its what the corporate culture is pushing there. Doing my best to be as cynical and awkward about it as possible myself, of course (in my 40s; I swear this is all going to turn me into Victor Meldrew in time)

@MxVerda@lgbtqia.space Plus, they go both ways!

@sundogplanets When you can't even stare up at the night sky without being reminded of the liberties billionaires take with our world, something is very wrong.

@pluralistic I walked past one of these once and I'm pretty sure by the time I saw the sign I was already passing "through the LFR area", so yeah.

@aral@mastodon.ar.al Wow, incredible! Well done everybody! @joynewacc@mastodon.social @riverbirchtree@mastodon.social

@janamarie@mystical.garden Wow that is a wild effect, I love it!

@Jgbird@mas.to Wow what a photo!

@sodslawyer@mstdn.social I probably need to learn how to do this, pretty soon.

@ncrav@mas.to Ohh you know, he might have a point! Aww

@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place Super fun game too! 😃

@keith@social.starkeith.net Aw hello Matilda! 👋😊

@keith@social.starkeith.net Nice vibrant greens!

@notthatdelta@furry.engineer Christ 😬

@jenniferplusplus@hachyderm.io Thanks for this, it's a very clear explanation.

@otterX@mindly.social Omg adorable 🥺

@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt Probably worth remembering that apps are often gonna be far worse than a webpage for this stuff 😐

@gloriouscow@oldbytes.space What! I love it!

@potterybyosa@mastodon.social Your works are simply incredible, every single one is so beautiful.

@Pepijn I think the only one I've been inside was the Scottish Parliament; my own one (Westminster) I've been outside but not inside. Similarly I've stood outside the Reichstag but don't remember going inside (I was quite young). So I guess it depends what counts as a visit! I liked the Scottish Parliament a lot, it's a really interesting building.

@Mayabotics Just add a right-angled connector and up you go..! :) @NanoRaptor

@keith@social.starkeith.net I hope she knows that her ears are excellent 🙂

@RadicalAnthro@c.im Happy Birthday Jack! 😃

@lina@neuromatch.social My makers call it progress because profit is their only drive My makers call it progress because profit is their only drive My makers call it progress because profit is their only only drive 🎵🎶🎵🎶

@Jgbird You must be such a catch 😃🙂

@Satori Hooray, you go Skye! Good job 😃😃

@BathNature@ecoevo.social Aww, that is very sad. Your tribute video is really lovely ♥️

@Satori Wow 😯😯 Amazing, they're so energetic!

@cloudless_sky@norden.social Oh gosh how amazing. "These are new whales. This is a population rebounding" 😭

@magpie Excellent cat name! 😃

@jaseg@chaos.social Huh. I'mactually reading that slide as showing they can control the phase to compensate for the temperature changes, not that they're using the temperature too control the phase. Maintaining a nice stable 80ps despite introducing temperature fluctuations, then showing how when they turn off their script the phase follows the temperature again. I think! 🤔

@datarama Maybe it's a bit like having a shower/bath/otherwise washing - not strictly necessary to live, but I know I'd get grumpy pretty quick if it suddenly stopped being possible to have one!

@Jgbird@mas.to What a lovely photo 🙂

@jaseg@chaos.social Thank you, I think (?) I get it now. On the previous slide, how to compensate *without* a phase shifter is what I missed. Nice.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange He's such a (huge) bundle of joy!

@MarkHoltom@mastodonapp.uk To be fair even before this chatbot rubbish I got scammed on PayPal and they were precisely zero help and said they couldn't do anything about it.

@TheresaReason@socialbc.ca Yes very true, can't argue with any of that!

@rebeccawatson That was a good read, thanks.

@evacide@hachyderm.io Extremely good and relevant to the moment.

@gilesgoat@toot.wales Pretty offensive to *need* to be a customer (and share your data with) one of the two megacorporations to access stuff on the government site. Who is the government these days, gov.uk or Google?

@Geojoek@mastodon.hams.social Look, I grunt because life in general is hard, not for physical reasons... @TheTomas@social.toot9.de @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social

@Satori@mastodon.thirring.org They are great from all angles 😊
