@NanoRaptor TI should have done vertically-oriented expansion modules for the TI-99/4 like this, rather the horizontally-oriented silliness they went with. https://oldcomputers.net/ti994.html

@qualia@floofy.tech That's such a "back to the future" screenshot. I remember when that sort of online interactive programming space was being researched as a teaching tool in the 2000s. Glad to hear that it worked well as a learning environment for a new programmer. I always thought VR was the piece needed to make it work.

@riley@toot.cat Someone invented the fabric for it. It was called X-pac VS75, and it was expensive. Hence the past tense.

@AmyZenunim If there is a mistake I make all the time, it's certainly that one.

@riley Yeah, I agree that things can still get much worse here in the US. I've just been trying to practice being less reflexively doomer in public & online.

@riley Hopefully that's another sign that we've passed the nadir, and are back on the upward climb again.

@solderandchaos Summer skewers! Grilled squash, zucchini, mushrooms, red onion, and sometimes chicken or shrimp.

@AmyZenunim Same, and I never thought that I would regret not taking the agritech program option for high school.

@glyph @eevee Sees: This replacement is called DXR, and once it reached maturity, Mozilla shut down their MXR instance. Follows DXR link: This repository was archived by the owner on Oct 13, 2021. It is now read-only. Looks at decommission commit: DXR will be turned off on Tuesday, December 29th. It will redirect to Searchfox. Checks Searchfox and is genuinely surprised to see it still exists.

@qualia Is rain.zip now archived anywhere like IA? I suspect that I have a copy buried in a hard-drive backup from years ago, but this is making me nostalgic for the late 90s/early 2000s modding/level making scene.

@pikhq Amazing. This sounds like a late 90s/early 2000s RPC/RMI flawed by design vulnerability.

@lalah @ami_angelwings I remember hate-watching Shin Sekai Yori when it aired. The psychics' bisexuality (and biologically enforced pacifism against in-group members) was based off of a superficial understanding of bonobo social behavior. I suspect it's popularity stems from the same sort of impulse that gave an older generation the whole "Fans are slans" garbage.

@qualia They Hunger probably hasn't aged well, like a few of the other mods I tried replaying last year. It had that late 90s edgy & morbid/grotesque humor thing that was popular at the time, but feels a bit too 4channer-coded now.

@jhbabon@hachyderm.io @sinituulia@eldritch.cafe The resemblance to a percolator probably is its biggest drawback as a product here, because there is still a lot of hate for percolator coffee.
