xtask is not a library or utility or anything, it's a just a convention. you add a binary crate to your workspace named xtask and you set up this alias in your .cargo/config.toml: [alias] xtask = "run --package xtask --"

I was planning to sell them for a dollar to recoup my costs, but then I realized I'd have to register as a vendor and fill out tax forms, and screw all that hassle. So they'll be free. I ordered 100 of them. I hope to see them stuck absolutely everywhere.

Your light pen plugs into the front RJ-14 jack and your sync cable - not included, sadly - plugs into the back to tell the unit when HSYNC and VSYNC occur, which gives it the pen position. I assume it was not originally nicotine brown. This might be the first thing I ever retrobrite.

I think the fundamental problem besides LLMs in general is that the sheer volume of Google search queries means whatever model Google has hooked up to do AI summaries must be extremely limited in both parameters and context so it just amplifies the worst aspects of the technology. ...which is then placed front and center, like your waiter revealing dog shit under a shiny silver platter

one thing I do need is some sort notification when you try to shove a 720k floppy image in a 360k drive, because that currently just quietly works but only allows you access to half the tracks I could be a normal person and just show a dialog box, but for some godforsaken reason i'm imagining an entire little isometric diorama showing someone trying to inert a 3.5" floppy disk into a 5.25" drive with the caption "This is what you are trying to do, are you sure"

there's an intriguing possibility here , considering it is USB, of adding light pen support to a modern computer. "But flat panels don't support light pens," you might say. And I would say, yes, but, there's a way around that. If you have a high refresh display, like my 165Hz OLED, what you could do is when the tip-button is pressed against the screen you could very quickly show checkerboards of increasing resolution to determine the pen position. You can't track a cursor live, but you can tell where the pen gets touched.

prepending a UTF-8 BOM would actually be mostly harmless though, it's invisible and not likely to be copyable. but maybe we can make it so the executable still works with the missing BOM. it will just change languages. like magic.

@foone@digipres.club this will only work between drives with the same data rate, but ... the worst that will happen is DOS would format the disk the wrong size. Considering that you rarely if ever need to format something in MartyPC that's a small price to pay
