Also if you host an opensource project on #Gitlab, I'm sorry but I can't make bug reports there anymore. I'm too tired to read legal documents and privacy policies to understand in which way I'm gazlighted by this kind of service provider and the people operating them. I'll just do something else, or participate to projects hosted somewhere else.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net Same with Netflix (that's why the UI is so painful to find shows of a specific kind compared to this good old popcorntime) or Google Android (that's would explain why making basic phone action as disable the number presentation takes as much user inputs as it currently does).

Replying to
@k3ym0 "Bonus: this is a fully functional globally-distributed covert data exfil channel that your NGFW will never fucking see if you're not doing deep DNS inspection. Sleep well." Doesn't work anymore for a decade. Most serious companies don't allow DNS queries to servers outside of their network. The only endpoints allowed to do that are the corporate internal DNS. With DoH I'm also not sure that will work because of the corporate web proxy. To make data exfiltrations there are so many easy ways to do so ... Why spending time to make something over DNS when you can simply upload the files or exploit USB keys, it's not hard to bypass FW and EDR policies.

@soatok@furry.engineer Wire seems to be decent too. But I would like to point out that this tools don't have federation and the org behind them are the only o es to manage the servers. From an user side, there is no difference between them and a proprietary solution, your account lifetime is dependent of the good wills of this orgs. Signal has killed my account because one day they decided that not using the main device isn't good enough, after few years.

@finnmyrstad @pluralistic I agree but mostly because I make and manage myself the digital services I use, and I have less and less time for them. Commercial ones were bad from the beginning, that's not something new. The only difference is there is more awarness this days, educated with some local regulations.
