@vindo@mastodon.social @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social given that dril is almost certainly in the training corpus, it's possible that an LLM could literally advise as dril would have. And that would be fucking hilarious.

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us why the fuck do we even have separate sentencing for terrorists? The whole point of trying them in civilian courts is to emphasise that terrorists *are* criminals as opposed to enemy combatants in a war.

@bagder@mastodon.social @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange I'm not going to advocate actually doing this because it's expensive and I'm not a fan of the environmental impacts, but I am curious what it would find if you pointed it at the codebase from a time before the other precursor tools like fuzzers were in use. How many bugs can it find that you know with hindsight are there to be found?

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/apr/30/as-a-ukrainian-journalist-ive-covered-the-us-for-20-years-i-find-it-increasingly-shocking

This article mentions something I've been feeling for quite a long time: the very *existence* of a charity suggests the failure of government to do something important.

I initially had this thought due to food banks. It's absolutely horrifying that we should ever need a food bank to exist. But then later I realised that the same applies to charities for cancer hospice support, domestic violence shelters... These are all functions that are important and necessary, but provided piecemeal because it's left to depend on individuals being generous and choosing what "deserves" their generosity.

It's not that I think in practice it's feasible for the state to take over everything that charities do, the world is imperfect, government moves slowly, and there will probably always be some gaps. But a charity is not the way the world *should* be, it is a signpost pointing towards something the nation or the world could be doing better.

Every person involved with pushing "AI" LLMs needs to get in the fucking bin. This article is just one reason among many.

AI told users it was sentient - it caused them to have delusions

Several people told the BBC they experienced delusions after intense conversations with AI.

@gerrymcgovern@mastodon.green I get what you're saying but I feel it's not really a good metric because datacentres aren't only jobs for the people that work in them, they're small parts of basically every computer based worker's job. The use of AI is grossly over consumptive but these numbers are a bit misleading about what's actually happening

Scientists test the rain and discover that it contains a high concentration of urine. The government declares mandatory DNA testing to be eligible to rent an umbrella, in order to discover the source of the piss. After a while, the test has covered all potential umbrella renters; no positive matches were found.

I need to order some hardware supplies which even my local hardware store doesn't have, where in the UK that is NOT Amazon am I likely to be able to get:

Loctite 270 (not the standard loctite, very specifically need this one)
A glue that will dry hard but with a little stretch - most superglue is too brittle, and for preference something slightly less runny than normal superglue

Also interested in recommendations for a small table vise and a small heat gun
