It is indeed a canned PR response pasted onto every post questioning the article. Not a good look at all, makes the entire perception of the situation worse imo. I sense a Proton moment coming...

Brexit Britain is the perfect beach-head to exploit his narrative across the smoking remains of the EU...
"Musk has become a kind of digital necromancer, like the white wizard Saruman, using his privileged position in the West to channel the dark autocracy of Sauron in his Kremlin towers to the east. (Perhaps, as in Tolkien’s epic, Musk deploys an all-seeing ‘Palantir’ courtesy of his tech ally and fellow South African Peter Thiel"

Those cuttings I took a couple of years ago of the clematis seem to have done rather well in the deep clay silt soil at the bottom of the allotment.

Long ago, when I used to work at my university library, I was addicted to Wolfenstein 3D. I used to strafe around the corners in the library when restocking books.

Stupid, then.
Edit: stupid and selfish, then.
Edit of the edit: those who vote for their own self interest neglect the context that their own self interest requires to survive.
The really ironic and unfortunate thing is that they usually have children.

Self interest. The baseline of politics at a local level. Interesting. Maybe there is indeed an element of that.
What I find difficult to understand is how many people around here I get along with, seem nice people, but who vote Reform and support Trump.
Maybe it is a combination of self interest, narrow mindedness and ignorance due to being so busy that the only information they get is from the BBC and Facebook, reinforcing a specifically manipulated confirmation bias.

Politics now is more divisive than ever, which I believe is a symptom of a much broader problem. It makes absolute sense that the previous minority demographics at either end of the spectrum will become more mainstream as society becomes more polarised.

Me: I don't want to use your app.
Them: Oh its really easy...
Me: I know, I don't want to use it.
Them: Its so easy, would you like me to show you?
Me: No, for the third time. I won't tell you again. I don't want to use it precisely because its so convenient. I know how it works and its not private and probably not even secure.
Them: well, there is no need to be like that about it.
Me: ...

If/when Scotland and Wales (and the Isle of Mann and Cornwall!) break from the Union, as would be the sensible option, the deciding factor in this mess may actually be the Tories in England.
If they decamp to Reform, which they will, then its meet the new management, same as the old management, only much, much worse. Hello mz Truss, nice to see you again! Britannia Unchained under the watchful eye of the Kremlin supported Reformers.
FML these are dark times.

Money, influence, power, authority, votes, money, gas, oil, tech...
You know there are some local politicians that do it because they want to help their communities, but there are far more of them at every level that want renown and to ride the gravy train: it attracts that sort of person.
The last person that should be allowed to have any position of authority is someone that actually wants it, or worse, pursues it.

The fact that they fell for it the first time means they will fall for it again. We've seen it happen in the US, we are seeing it happen here. Lobbyist money, media, social media bubbles working on tired, scared, ignorant voters.

In my experience, all the tricks don't work as slugs are determined little gits. The only thing that works is attracting enough things that feed off slugs to keep their numbers down.

There is a reason why Douglas Adams in THHGTTG made the question to life the universe and everything more important than the answer.
We are now finding out why the journey is more important than the destination when attempting to navigate the great filter of the Fermi Paradox.
Its not the end result that counts, its the understanding that allows you to get there.
This is our existential test and we shall live or die as a species depending how we respond to it.

Filters are great. It helps filters if people hashtag their posts. It also helps if people don't purposely mis-spell things to avoid people's filters.

His weakness and complicity has paved the way for what is likely to come. This dark path he talks of was his task to prevent and he failed by sitting on the fence and pandering to the far right.
You don't beat your political enemies by meeting them on their ground, you outflank them by being where they are not, by being what they are not, by being better not by copying what your opponent is doing, only with less conviction.

Lol listening. Right. The responsible thing to do would be to fuck off and let Labour try a new direction. But he'll do a Biden and hang on for as long as possible.
Now he has paved the way for Reform, he's determined to polish the cobbles for Farage to slide into government along.

I expect they have more resources to expend that instance owners do; their intent is to overwhelm. Make no mistake, they are coming for the fediverse, such a thing will not be permitted to stand.

For what it's worth, there is the link below to opt out. I don't know if they honour this; I've previously read that they do but I'd be surprised if Palantir don't just do whatever they want.

This. Hold Meta and Alphabet to account, make them moderate their content. Age verification won't help; it's a Trojan horse that's really ID verification in a virtue signalling mask that will end privacy online and force surveillance onto everyone. It won't even protect children successfully. A scam that Meta are pushing so they won't have to moderate their content but can continue to spread harm.

A politician's job is to lie, thats exactly what we pay them for: so we can be told that its all ok whilst big money burns the house to the ground and we get to abdicate responsibility.
They may lie, but its us that vote for them to lie to us on behalf of big oil, gas and tech.
If you give power to those that seek it, then you can't realistically be surprised that they abuse it.
