@BriBear@lgbtqia.space I am one of those people, and honestly it depends on the situation. Mostly, I appreciate it when someone points out I misunderstood, and am always happy to reflect and correct myself, and apologise if needed. Sometimes though, if I have interpreted something as demanding or insulting, I am right, and others perspectives are not seeing what I'm seeing. In those situations I do not like someone else pointing out I've misinterpreted, because I'm sure I haven't, and it's more likely the other person is missing the subtext. I suppose all you can do is be absolutely sure it has been misinterpreted, and that the offended person doesn't have good reason to be so. Maybe a private message instead of a public response if you are unsure?

Instead of relying on copilot to fix it, you could learn more about formulas and get the satisfaction of seeing the outcome that you want. I work with multiple workbooks with multiple sheets and every one has been built by me, from scratch, sometimes learning new formulas and VBA tricks as I go because the possibilities are vast. If I used copilot I wouldn't get any new knowledge or experience, and no satisfaction.

You could have typed into Google 'excel today's date' (or any other search engine), ignored/turned off AI results and have the answer in seconds. You could have asked a colleague. You could have pressed the f button and looked for 'today'. But you chose to use copilot, knowing what we all know.

@faithisleaping@anarres.family Diagnosed autistic, strongly suspect ADHD too. Ive got 3 kids, 33, 30 and 16. With all 3 of them I rejected the whole idea of 'nap time is at 12, bed time is at 7' etc etc. Instead I worked more along the lines of something happens which is followed by something else eg dinner>playtime>bathtime>story>bed whatever time it happened and however long each part lasted. This always worked amazingly well for me and for my kids. It's only now I realise why. I think this can work for adults too, it certainly still does for me. A routine and structure without strict timetables. Even if its not the full days roster of 'things' it can help.

@eyrea@mstdn.ca @paulshryock@phpc.social @jschauma@mstdn.social It's not copilot, it's not AI. It's a preloaded set of help topics that existed well before copilot. You can access it by pressing F1. Alternatively, you can press the formula button next to the formula bar, and get a whole load of options for formula assistance by typing in key words eg 'date'. Again, not copilot. These things existed long before copilot and are more accurate. Did you only start using excel since copilot integration? You can turn that off.

Oh it gets better. My daughter came out as gay when she was 10. He has been telling his family that I raised her to be gay because I hate men. I gained a lot of weight from 2021 due to a melon sized cyst pressing on my lower spine reducing my mobility (now sorted since march this year) and he has been telling his family I'm a lazy fat alcoholic sitting around waiting for him to save me, still pining after him. WHY ARE MEN LIKE THIS. ('Not all men' me at your peril) My last 'straight' relationship before coming out as a lezza was 2004-2011. 2005 we bought a house together in Taffs Well (Wales), by which I mean I agreed to pay half the mortgage but was made to sign a document stating I would have no financial claim to the property should we separate. His brother was a finance dude and they both convinced me this was fine and normal 2007 We started trying for a baby, which was his idea. 2010 our daughter was born following IVF. 2012 we separated and I moved back home to Kent with our daughter. I left him because of financial and emotional abuse. Since we split, I have been solely responsible for our daughter which I do not regret because quite frankly she is an angel and my soul mate. He moved to Scotland and sees her once a year when he comes to stay for 2 or 3 days over Christmas. He pays £350 a month maintenance and calls her every Sunday. Father of the year material right 🙄 For 15 years I believed we at the very least had a mutual respect, if not a friendship. How dumb was I. I recently found out he has been telling his family and work colleagues that I am raising my daughter to be gay. That we live in squalor, and that I am a fat lazy alcoholic waiting for him to save us and take me back. I called him out on it last week and instead of responding, he has logged into my netflix and Disney + (I forgot he had the log ins) and watched 5 seconds of about 30 films/shows to mess up my 'continue watching' and suggested lists. How fucking petty???? I can imagine his nasty smug little face laughing to himself as he did it. I won't ever get an apology or explanation for the things he has said about me and honestly I don't give a shit about that. But he has a really immature dark side and I need to tell my daughter about this. How?????

I would be happy to pick you up from the station if you are comfortable with that? It may just be me and my teenage daughter but we may have a couple of friends joining aswell.

I started dancing the jig every time I saw him, ended up we would do a jig dance together for about 20 seconds then he'd one shot me 😂 Lot of cool people there (on PC EU atleast) if you take dying as part of the fun haha

I figure at some point soon there is going to be a sudden demand for people who can actually code, as all these companies (my employers included) can no longer afford their AI tools, but have no-one who can actually code to maintain the fancy new apps and internal systems they created with vibe coding.

Hey all I've dumped the #Python course I originally started via Coursera as it was really badly planned. Instead, I've started the #OpenLearn (Open Uni) short course "Learn to code for data analysis" which uses Pythion and looks pretty good so far. They want me to use Anaconda with notebooks and Jupytr (sp). So i've downloaded full version of #Anaconda but there appears to be a lot of slop installed in the package, 562 apps. I'm pretty sure some of it is AI related and I dont want to use that. I know it's a newb question but can I uninstall every app apart from notebooks and jupytr?

Our CPO Ed is on BBC radio 5 at 11:30 today (uk time) talking about the role of male ambassadors/allies and the partnership he is building between the company I work for and #HASSL I can vouch for ED, he is a solid ally and not just for kudos. He puts his heart and soul into making the work place a better place for women and minorities, most recently introducing extra days off for those with menstrual and menopause issues. Had our company allhands yesterday. They were talking about all the wonderful AI tools they are introducing to 'help' us. Someone (not me, though I wish it had been haha) asked a question along the lines of "with all these new AI tools, can we have transparency on what it is costing and is there a plan for when the cost inevitably becomes unaffordable?" The main AI fan in the leadership team scoffed, said in a sulky tone "dont agree with inevitable" and went on to say there's lots of myths about AI we need to do an AI myth busting session. Yes, lets. Still waiting on a response to my short essay to the leadership team about why I wont be using any of these tools. #NoAI

@hmm_cook@universeodon.com Nope. I learned to deal with stuff on my own because no-one ever supported me. Positive side is I 'get shit done' and can deal with pretty much everything. I'm a tough cookie. Negative is I have never properly processed all the shit I had to go through with no support, and that manifests as pushing people away and not trusting anyone. I would love to learn these skills you mention, but wouldnt even know where to start.

Seeing some posts using the hashtag #aiSlop that are pro-AI. I asked someone a few days ago why, and they said it was so people could filter out pro-AI posts. Ive been following the hashtag for some time and have not been aware of this. So, is it for pro-AI people to use so those of us who don't want to read their AI nonsense can filter, or is it a hashtag to discuss AI slop?

@alexadeswift@lgbtqia.space I played around with some image creation back when it was in its infancy, it was hilarious how awful they were and it was just for giggles. Then I started learning about it more as an interest, and quickly realised it was something I would never want to use again. Drives me nuts at work when I can tell someone has used AI to summarize a report I have already included a human written summary for and they miss so much context 🙄
