"Hope will never be silent." — Harvey Milk, activist and politician
Survival Tactic for the Day: If you've been holding your breath around someone who makes you shrink — and you know who they are — exhale the moment you leave the room. Audibly. Let your lungs hear themselves. You don't owe quiet to anyone who costs you air

The wheel has turned past the equinox and leans now toward Beltane, toward the fire-month, though we aren't there yet. We are in the thick of the quickening — tha an talamh a' dùsgadh, the earth is waking — and she is not waking gently. Pollen coats every surface like a yellow confession, the land saying: I've held this in all winter and I am done being careful about it.

The annual solar wheel effigy is ready!
I make these from the reed-like stems of the daylillies, wrapped in grape vine. We decorate it with all the flowers and fruits that we can find around the yard, which gives a snapshot of how the harvest turned out. It's been a bit dry, so this year isn't as vibrant, but the lillies grew very tall so the wheel is bigger than usual.

Hawthorn Berry - A spoonful stirred into warm water, the sweet-sour tang settling at the back of the tongue, is an old way of taking a berry herbalists have long turned to for the heart. Hawthorn can interact with heart medications so talk to your doctor before making it a habit, and skip it in pregnancy. #Herbalism #Pagan #Homeopathic https://thistleandmoss.com/p/they-know-better-the-cock-weasels-seized-press-badges-sacrificed-trans-kids-a-hostage-car-and-a-demo#the-nurturing-food-as-medicine?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fedica
This week’s Minoan Tarot cards. This deck is my creation, made the old-fashioned way (ink on paper) and available at bookstores everywhere.
Ten of Daggers: You’ve taken on more than you can handle and overextended yourself, either voluntarily or because you felt pressured into doing so. This card can also mean you’re feeling oppressed by success. It’s not turning out to be as pleasurable as you expected, and you no longer feel fulfilled in spite of attaining great goals. Regardless of how this responsibility entered your life, it’s stifling the creative and imaginative aspects of yourself that this suit embodies. You have to remove some of the weight before you’ll be free to open up and create again.
The Emperor: This card represents the masculine force within Nature and within each person, regardless of physical sex or gender. It can be envisioned as the God Within. This includes a sense of authority and leadership, self-control, independence, and a strong sense of self-identity. The Emperor reminds you of your ability to focus, concentrate, and bring plans to fruition through self-discipline and determination. This involves the skills of organization, being systematic, fitting the bits of life into compartments and labels, and focusing on linear processes. This card speaks to your inner sense of order and control, your ability to lead and direct yourself as well as others. This is a positive aspect of order and control and its mindful use in appropriate situations in life.
For those who are new to these card draws, each week I pull one card from the top of the deck and a second card from the bottom. The top-of-the-deck card (the first one, on the left) gives us some helpful hints about how to navigate our week. The bottom-of-the-deck card (the second one, on the right) is the “secret treasure” that can help us find joy in these Interesting Times.

Fully a week late: the latest issue of The Gods and Their Croziers is out!
This is Ailbhe, a Sun God and a patron of Harmony. They're a gender-ambiguous mess of archetypes that seem to come out differently in every mythology. Their closest _singular_ parallel seems to be Vishnu, but may have once included Mars.
There's every reason to think that they're esoterically the Daytime face of an evening counterpart whose nature similarly encompasses the Moon and the Evening/Morning Star: Midir/Bréanainn and Aengus/Moling. And possibly a third or even fourth pairing for the Night and the Dawn. I'm still working this out.
This issue is dense, and full of comparisons across multiple mythologies. It's got Loki! It's got Paris and Hector! It's got Cúchulainn and it's got Karna and Duryodhana!
It's a mess!
But if you stick with it, I promise you'll be as confused and enlightened as I was.

I have made a cringe whoopsie.
I found this really pretty statue of Aphrodite on Thingiverse forever ago and I loved that she had long very curly hair like my fiance does.
So I printed it and included it in a few altar locations in the house.
My buddy has been trying to get back in a relationship for a while now and I thought
"Oh, hell I have these cool statues of Aphrodite set to print on demand. I should make him one as a charm to bring about love"
So I did and I gave it to him and he goes
"Why does she have 6 fingers?"
🙃
So, after I told my nurse of a fiance about them being AI generated, they took one and looks it over and gave me a fun anatomy lesson and I learned a whole bunch of new things that AI can't get right on a 3D model of a person.
So if anyone has recommendations for Aphrodite statues or a good source for other gods that I can 3D print. Please let me know! It doesn't need to be historic art it just needs to not be AI
I currently browse a lot of Geoffrey Marchal's work as he does 3D scans of statues, but they often kinda suck to print.

I also like mediu3D on Cults for their busts. I have Hypatia and Plato busts on standby to hand out to people who want to join Plato club

Did you know that inclusive Minoan spirituality is open to everyone who feels a connection with the Minoan deities, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity? Labrys & Horns is the "starter pack" for inclusive Minoan spirituality.
Book details, and plenty of places to find it that aren't named after a South American river:

I remember being a beginner witch and having all kinds of things I wanted to do spells for. Youth is a transformative time and there was lots out of my control, so there were a lot of areas to apply magick. I was doing spells each moon.
Then, after practicing for a decade or so, there wasn't much to do anymore. I got to a point where I basically wasn't doing any magick at all for years because there was nothing to fix. My life was just how I wanted it, and I focused on raising my children.
Now, as I'm getting older, I find I'm doing more magick again. But the spells are rarely for myself, they are community magick, political action, and maintenance things like land protections and blessings.
I don't know if there's something like Erikson's Psychosocial Stages for witchcraft, but I have a guess that other witches have gone through a similar trajectory, regardless of actual age. First, there's a focus on the needs of the self, then the household or chosen family, then the wider community.
What stage are you at?

Ripping up a dollar, setting it on fire and offering it to the gods in prayer for economic collapse was nice, empowering and cathartic. I don't worship #Money I serve Odin. Not the greenback. And while getting rid of #trump would be satisfying...every #witch is doing that. That is just not painful enough though. But.... It's not just him. He's just a side effect of the false god. Economic collapse? Now that will send a few more people out to look for food for the gulliotine! #pagan
Hail Freya, it's Friday! Today's #FridayPaganPoll:
Most pagans believe in some kind of reincarnation, but there are many variations of it. The classic kind that most people know is "whole soul" reincarnation, where the soul is reincarnated one-to-one, and may or may not have memories of the previous incarnation.
There is also what I'll call "partial soul," where only some pieces move on and there is no retention of whole memories.
Which one most closely matches your beliefs on reincarnation?
(This is obviously an extremely nuanced topic, so detailed comments are welcome and appreciated!)

Pick a handful of leaves in the morning while the dew still beads on them, rinse, then steep four teaspoons fresh (or two dried) in just-off-the-boil water, covered, ten minutes. Astringent, faintly green-bitter.
Copan an driùchd — the cup of the dew, which is what the old tongue calls it, because the folded leaf catches the night's water in a silver bead and alchemists once gathered that bead for their work. Traditional use is astringent: a cooled infusion as a mouth rinse or a wash for scrapes. A gentle plant, not a dramatic one. Skip it if you're pregnant or nursing, and if bleeding worries you, a plant is a companion to a doctor, never a substitute. #DeepSummer #Nature #Foraging #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #Phenology #Georgia #Garden #Solidarity #Photography #Gaelic #NatureWriting
Hail Freya, it's Friday! Here's your #FridayPaganPoll:
Lughnasadh is upon us! Also known as Lammas, or "the bread holiday." Blessed be all the carbs!
Bread-making is a huge part of my pagan practice, so this weekend I want to spread the word and encourage people to try it out.
Have you ever made homemade bread from scratch?
(If you have, share your best tips or recipes! If you haven't, ask questions or vent frustrations. It would be cool to get some gluten-free or yeast-free options in the comments as well.)

🖤 It's happening! Finally the details are confirmed and I can share this thing I've been working on for a while -- I'll be hosting an Ancestral Sigil Making workshop on Sunday, October 18th at Brewja Elixir in Joshua Tree.
We'll be working within a communal setting using a somatic method to pull two sigils: one made by us, that we will burn at the end to leave behind. One made by another attendee as we make theirs to carry ancestral wisdom forward into the season, marked with jagua on our skin. Be prepared to come for the afternoon, settle in, and truly integrate into the experience. If you were looking for a good time to take a trip out to this region I hope this is it!
If price is what's keeping you from going, I'm starting a waitlist for a certain amount of pay-what-you-can seats, so just DM me to get on that, and those seats will be released about three weeks before the date of the event. You're all getting this about a week before I'll be ready to post it on Instagram, and before the owner of Brewja puts it out on her network, so if you are interested you'll be set to get seats before anyone else.
I know most of you aren't local, but I wanted to share here anyways, I'm very very excited to have the space to host this event.
