Question for neurodiverse people who tend to take things literally or perhaps have struggle understanding nuance of conversation. If you were having a conversation in a public thread or chat and a third person noticed you seemed to be interpreting the other incorrectly would you want that to be pointed out? Would it offend you? What if it seemed you were viewing what someone else said as demanding or insulting when from a third parties perspective it seemed more a quirk of language? I really hate to see people potentially upset because there seems to be a misunderstanding but I also don't want to add fuel to an emotional fire and I don't want to be condescending. I want to be helpful but I'm quite afraid of doing the opposite.

#introduction Hello! Figured since I migrated to lgbtqia.space I'd introduce myself. I'm a pan-demi guy looking to have good conversations. I don't necessarily have to have a direct interest in something to talk about it. If you're passionate about something and you want to talk I'm probably open to it. I'm in my 40s and only really figured out I'm queer in the last few years. I'm quite open minded and love to explore things from other perspectives. Though the framework that works best for me is a probably materialism. I'm atheist but if faith/spirituality works for you then I wouldn't want anything different for you. I am a ABDL/little but that's only a part of me and don't feel the need to be defined by it but I mention it because I might make the odd post about it and if this is the sort of thing that would bother you you can mute/block me now. I'm looking forward to having some good chats with you all!

@JaxVent@lgbtqia.space I would only really post if I was quite sure it was being misinterpreted but it seems like a situation with too much risk of not having full context. If someone misinterprets me I'll let them know but I guess I'll keep my nose out of others conversations. I probably only actually post about half the things I type out in general anyway. My intention is clear to me but it's not always so clear to others and being misunderstood as attacking sucks so hard.

@simoncozens@typo.social a big thing for me is to just be honest with people. "I'm sorry there is no point trying to have a conversation in this environment. Can we move to somewhere more appropriate?" I'm sad about conversations I can't participate in but nothing is going to magically make my brain separate the noise from the voice. Sadly it's definitely got worse with age. I suppose I should put some effort into learning lip reading.
