I love everything about trail running. The crunch of shoes on dirt and rock, the work, the play, the conversations, making friends, the fresh air.

The absence of advertising out there is one of the very best things. No bullshit, no psychology, no capitalism.

The leaf peeping was good at Cow Creek in Rocky Mountain National Park this morning. #autumn

Threw some money at Pierre Bensusan (coming to town in 3 weeks) and the Meat Puppets (Live in Montana) at Bandcamp. So much guitar shredding, very different styles. #BandcampFriday

Despite the recent frost at my tree's most vulnerable moment, we have wee baby apricots on every branch. Roughly 15% survival.

Here's some exciting news: my turnip roots are plumping. #gardening

We have two kinds of daylight in Colorado: spirit-sucking gloom (20 days a year), and blinding supernova (the other 345).

@geospacedman I peeked into the PyQt5 code. Indeed, there is no QtCore attribute in the top-level PyQt5 module. This means that you always have to import PyQt5.QtCore (or its sibling modules).

Wow, respect for the #Cocodona 250 Mile runner leaving the 55 km aid station, 7 hours and 14 minutes in (I'm catching up) with a double cheeseburger in his hand.

The new Altın Gün album of songs by Neşet Ertaş is so good, from the very first track: https://altingun.bandcamp.com/album/garip.

Had to endure a sociopath making a phone call, a very dull and pointless phone call, in the gym sauna this afternoon. I should have brought my weirdo wool sauna hat. They would have been too scared to make a call.

I just learned that Martha Wells is coming to town, Tuesday! https://oldfirehousebooks.com/event/2026-05-05/evening-martha-wells

I loved listening to Debbie Millman talk about design while gardening this afternoon. Thanks to Ezra Klein, I guess. Who should reconsider his show's theme music while we're on the subject of blandness.

Klein tried to invite Millman to concede that America's political right was earnestly trying out theories of beauty, but she wasn't having it.

Luckily the slippery slope is only a logical fallacy. There's no way this can go wrong. https://www.npr.org/2026/10/04/nx-s1-5977852/midterm-voting-is-underway-some-voters-are-relying-on-ai-to-make-a-decision

Kid A went to Bordeaux for a semester to study sciences po, and civics and politics are breaking out big time. https://www.lemonde.fr/en/education/article/2026/10/02/hundreds-of-french-high-schools-shut-as-student-protests-escalate_6758169_104.html

I picked a tea at random from my pu-erh sampler. This is Yunnan Sourcing's own 2021 Impression raw pu-erh. A blend of spring and autumn leaves. It's for those who like an astringent brew. #teastodon

@geospacedman Can you use the fully qualified name for QUrl? That would be PQ.QtCore.QUrl.

Or, do from PyQt5.QtCore import QUrl.
