It runs 10-4 and I'll be in the library from lunchtime, part of a group of volunteers, doing my best Punk Anna Wintour impression for the "you'll have had your tea" crowd, it will probably be fine

@0xabad1dea i went there for a project seminar last year and was astonished at the early morning silence, the town centre empty of traffic, you can hear every flap of a bird's wing. And the canal-house prettiness. Leiden's a gem of a place, isn't it, the people there don't seem to appreciate that they're living in a paradise

Is it possible for a sizeable workplace culture to have built-in resistance to the ways that control hierarchies are too easily abused? Is it even possible to advance that argument from a place of marginalisation and doubt?

@robinince@mastodon.social i think it very much depends who you are, who you're aligned with. From experience, if you're already marginalised or vulnerable in other ways, it probably won't help. And a positive example of understanding and support offered to a straight white man won't have universal application... Ideally we all should be able to be honest; is there any other way to live? But workplace implementations of inclusion and support are necessarily going to include some more than others :/
