Scalzi
I enjoy pie.
I don't know, Microsoft, asking me to install one of your recent Windows 11 updates on April Fool's Day feels a little on the nose to me
I get asked to show up to book clubs, online and offline. Here is why from now on the answer is always "no." If you think this might have something to do with "AI" ruining yet another thing for everyone, you're absolutely 100% correct.

Been away, sorry. Here are some cat pictures to make up for it. Very old cats, mind you
Oh, hey, how cool is this: When the Moon Hits Your Eye is the winner of the inaugural Astra Book Award in the category of Best Science Fiction Novel! Congratulations to all the other winners as well!
Unlike most people, this year I have two actual and totally legit birthdays. There's my usual one, which happens next month, and then there's my birthday determined by the orbit of the asteroid named for me, which is... today! Happy Space Potato Birthday to me!

Today in "Don't Trust AI to Tell You Facts": How several different "AI" programs messed up the simple fact of to whom I dedicated a book, and what that means for how much you should trust "AI" to tell you the truth about things (spoiler: not much at all):
It annoys me how good Apple's marketing is, it makes me want to get a Mac Neo when I have absolutely no fucking use case for one, and even already have a M4 Mac Air. Get out of my head, Apple
What? The "AI" industry is in an unsustainable bubble that will result in billions and possibly trillions of dollars of damage to the global economy? That's unpossible!
The Shattering Peace is a Locus Award finalist this year in the category of Best Science Fiction Novel. See the entire list of finalists in every category at the link below. Congratulations to all!

Krissy has been using her iPod Nano when she exercises for fifteen years at least, I'm vaguely surprised it still holds a charge. The music on it has not been updated since 2010 at least. She does not mind.

This was interesting to me because when I decided to get serious about making music I went out of my way to get a Mac because it seemed most music stuff was native there to begin with, and otherwise it offered the most frictionless experience. Making music on Windows was always a smidgen... clunky.

The series rules is that there are a certain number of book/words in the series, you can only be re-nominated after you add a certain number of words to the series, and if the series wins, it's no longer eligible to win (or thereabouts, I'm going off the top of my head).
AI destroying jobs, part the many
The Pixel Phone Battery Bug is real and boy is it annoying
Just a couple days left to nominate for the 2026 Hugo Awards if you're eligible and you've not already done so. Vote for the work you loved in 2025! For those of you who need a refresher on what I have that's eligible (two novels, two TV episodes, and a novelette), here's the whole list.
