@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I know that’s not what happened here, but a few years ago I had a background check done to be a notary and it came back saying that my drivers license was canceled. I have had a valid drivers license every single day since I turned 16 and I am in my 50s now. So I called the DMV and the lady was so nonchalant, she was like “yeah the computer canceled a bunch of drivers licenses”, I could hear her typing and she was like “OK you’re all set now.” Ma’am! I was like “so I’ve been driving around without a valid drivers license?” She said “well the state police knew it was an error.” Ma’am! I drive in Maine and Massachusetts as well, sometimes I drive all the way to Florida or California. Can you imagine if I had been pulled over in another state and arrested for driving without a valid drivers license? My car would have been impounded and I would have had to pay the tow fee even if it was not my error. She was totally unbothered. I was still on Facebook at the time so I told everyone in New Hampshire they should really make sure their drivers license is still valid because this woman told me they were just fixing them as they found them. Like they had no method to go through and fix the ones they canceled. They were just doing it as it came up. I’m a tiny white woman so I’m probably would have been ok, but sometimes I had medical cannabis in my car. And I definitely don’t have all my prescriptions in a prescription bottle with my name on it because my purse isn’t that big. It would’ve been a HUGE ISSUE for me.

This is wonderful! It’s almost 90 degrees in NH today & if harvesting solar energy also makes the blueberries a higher quality this is something to celebrate.

Unfortunately NH has chosen to defund a whole bunch of alternative energy investments, but at least Massachusetts is still doing its thing.

In Massachusetts, a solar farm was raised nine feet above blueberry fields, and its shade is changing how the fruit grows and tastes https://www.ecoportal.net/en/in-massachusetts-solar-farm-was-raised/30599/

@amydiehl@mstdn.social yep it’s the same types of people who were flipping out that they couldn’t sit in a restaurant and have a server serve them in 2020 when they could just get takeout and eat with their friends at home. I guess it’s not fun if you can’t order a server around and see and be seen by strangers who are supposed to be impressed by your designer clothes or whatever. Also a lot of these dudes need someone to sexually harass, and if they can’t do it at work or when they are out shopping and eating in public, they crash out.

I’m so glad this was vetoed. I knew these liberty weirdos would try this type of stuff since republicans control the government, but the governor did the right thing. “Last week, Gov. Kelly Ayotte vetoed a bill that would have allowed farmers to slaughter livestock for direct sale to consumers and restaurants within the state of New Hampshire sans oversight from any inspecting authority. The legislation, House Bill 396, would have required the Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food to formulate an annual training around food safety and product labeling and distribution, a guardrail that Agriculture Commissioner Shawn Jasper said his department would not have the staff to support.” https://www.concordmonitor.com/2026/07/16/nh-gov-vetoes-slaughter-bill/#NH #HB396 #GoVegan

I am so happy to see people finally acknowledging how awfully this woman was treated when she was a teenager.

Even people who are against child marriage ignore this woman’s mistreatment and I assume it’s because of how she looked. Like because she was groomed to look like a sex doll she must have wanted it or deserve it.

I love that she got out of that predatory marriage and that she’s speaking about this subject. Her parents should be very, very ashamed they let this happen to her.

I have seen articles talking about how trump is eliminating the Medicare Part D subsidy in 2027 & I was freaking out a bit. That subsidy is why last year I only paid $11+ a month & now in 2026 I pay $89+ & without it this year I would be paying $110 a month.

But I didn’t realize that “extra help” subsidy made it so CVS/Aetna had paid NOTHING for my meds this year. How dare they deny me any prescriptions when they aren’t even paying anything??

So now I understand why the Wall Street Journal is freaking out about this. They are upset that the Medicare part D programs might have to actually start paying for people’s medication. And yes, I know that means they’ll pass it on to us, but they’ve been getting a whole bunch of free government handouts and they voted for this so they should maybe work on opposing it.

If I open my curtains I also open my windows so I’m not exactly in a greenhouse, but I’ve finally figured out that leaving the curtains and windows closed during the day keeps my apartment cooler. Also, a fan in the window that is blowing in is dumb but I used to do that a lot too. I had a mom who was obsessed with fresh air and I think that’s how I got stuck on this. My electric usage is much better this year than it was last year at the same time. The bill is higher because our electric company sucks, but I am using less which is still a win for me.

They link up people with pets and a terminal illness with people looking to adopt so you can make arrangements for someone to take your pet before you go.

I feel old as dirt. I am old enough to remember when PLUS loans for grad students weren’t a thing. The became a thing in 2005 or 2006. Now they’re going away.

And a lifetime cap of $257,500 in federal loans is going to stop a lot of talented professionals from becoming physicians.

This is going to fuck over everyone.

I don’t know how seriously this Open Evidence thing is taken in the medical community but this makes me want to celebrate!! Patients have been telling them
this for YEARS.

“Gabapentinoids are not effective for lumbar radicular pain from degenerative disc disease. Multiple high-quality systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials demonstrate no significant benefit over placebo for pain reduction or functional improvement, while gabapentinoids are associated with increased risk of adverse effects including dizziness, fatigue, cognitive difficulties, and visual disturbances.”

@bomkatt @emilymbender @BoydStephenSmithJr yep when I returned to NH from California I had to make them put HUGE flags in my chart because every consent to treat and bill insurance included a line telling me that signing it also authorizes them to send referrals anywhere they feel like it without my specific permission. I had left NH to flee a DV situation and the man owned a chain of medical practices in NH so the LAST thing I wanted was someone sending one of his offices a referral with all my current personal information on it. Their forms have been like this for more than 10 years around here. The dude died a few years ago so I’m not as rigid about it as I used to be, but seriously, how dare they? My last neurologist took it upon herself to blast my information to three different Nurology clinics when I specifically told her I would not be able to go to two of them. I don’t know if she forgot or what but I instantly quit that practice.

@EverydayMoggie @emilymbender not exactly related to this topic, but I couldn’t even check into my last appointment at Dartmouth Hitchcock without agreeing to allow them to put all my medical information into some “share everywhere” database. I always refuse that and it’s impossible to check in on line without agreeing. At the window she claimed she noted that I refused to sign it but it looked like she just signed my name for me because she wrote on the pad. So if I ever go there again I will just write “refused” or “NO” on the pad myself.

@jrdepriest @emilymbender I actually suspect that Dartmouth Hitchcock in New Hampshire does it without asking. A couple years ago I looked at the notes after a gynecology visit and some of the things she said I said were accurate but the specific words she used were weird. Like it said “patient states that these symptoms began when she was a little girl”. I never use “little girl” when describing myself as a child. I said “kid”. Maybe I’m being overly suspicious but it seems like a computer at a women’s health visit would be more likely to change “kid” to “little girl” than a grown ass gynecologist would.

There are also a whole bunch of businesses that don’t have Customer service addresses on their website, you can only contact them through Facebook or Twitter or Instagram, so I guess I just don’t do business with those businesses.
