Full day: 8 AM the gravel truck drove in, dumped a load and I spent the day levelling and moving it around. I'm getting another Sea Can, but size is limited. I figured if I took out one Pear tree, I could get 40 feet in there. So, I dug out my mature pear tree, stuck it in a barrel of water until I could get back to it, and went to level and moved the gravel. I went to dig a new hole, to put the pear tree in, somewhere else, just to save it. Before I finished, we ran out of well water! Sucking air? That tree was soaking in water and the hose was still running.. all day. It ran the well dry. While waiting for the well to recover, I wheelbarrowed earth to bury that pear tree in the ditch. I did some other stuff too, like edging my roadway (Highways don't maintain it) and raking off the disturbed dirt. And yet, I don't feel like I got anything done today?

#NovaScotia Peaches. So juicy that they fall off the pit. Some of the pits had two kernels. That's about a dozen potential trees, 🌱 in a basket of 8 fruit. I wonder what their offspring will be like. More fruit expected in 2029

I've been working in the greenhouse, mixing the last of the cement, copying files all day (still), & then I have to rebuild my Linux. Might do that early morning. For unknown reasons, my head is swollen on one side, and my eye has closed on that side. Might need to get something for that tomorrow.

Let me tell you a funny (sad) story: I snagged a deal on motor oil at $29 per gallon. I got two, to change my oil. We've been loading and unloading the van so often, the oil got taken inside (But I didn't know) Drove to the city to get stuff, decided, it just takes 20 min, let's change that oil and I drained it. But the oil I bought, was still at home. I have a hardware store within walking distance at $79 per gallon!! I took a taxi to Canadian Tire, their cheapest oil was $69 for two gallons, plus taxi $35. The sensor was $65 and putting it in was $80. The price of oil is crazy, not just in the strait, but straight in the stores

Off to the garage. If I have any money left, I go again this afternoon for a second vehicle. I can do this stuff myself, but if anything goes wrong, I'd be stranded, we don't even have public transit. You need a car and a spare car to live in Rural Halifax. Garage appts are 50 km trips, 2 week wait

I'm not sure if I am online? I was driving and crossed into a cellular signal and thought I'd check replies, but nothing new

It's probably too early to go to bed, but it's also too early to get up at 3am, but that's life. L88R

I keep getting pulled away from this task. My new greenhouse cold frame. Plastic sheeting to go on last 🌱 The roof reaches ground level to deter the wind. No store-bought tents survive here.

@Lstn2urmama@mstdn.ca Wind rips roofs off all the time. A greenhouse doesn't have the strength of a wooden roof, so it's easier to rip up. I've lost two in the city, they took off. This is my second designed one

@Lstn2urmama@mstdn.ca A company pays $100,000 for a 50K job. They rent Video Recorders for $200/day but you can rent them for less than $50 . there's a corporate price and a personal price. We pay the actual labour, but the distance to get here, is part of the labour. If from the city, that's five hours of pay before they get here. I need locals
