I'm a tinkerer impenitent and a poet sometimes. I would love to add to the world's beauty. Still figuring out how.

@oldrawgabbit@mastodon.world After living off freebies we slowly came to the realization that all this convinience wasn't actually free. We paid with our info and our freedom. The hell we're living in is allowed and maintained by us. We know what's killing us but it also drives more and more aspects of our lives. The bilionaires that are so hungry for your data? They're people, they're us. We feed them. They're easy to starve. We know how. We also love our phones and apps too much to do sh!t about it.

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party It really doesn't take much to make a better society. Only a critical mass of open minded and kind hearted. Difference doesn't hurt society it enriches it.

@romeu Someome came to me the other day asking why my token count was so low. I didn't realize that was a productivity metric. WTF.

@eljorgeabides@mastodon.world @OberstKrueger@gamepad.club @fribbledom@mastodon.social I regularly use AI to help detect bugs and propose fixes for code written by true humans. The problem in my humble opinion is not AI but the belief that AI dispense you from knowing a minimum of code engineering (mostly pushed by marketing). Somebody said that AI is the latest way humans found to share knowledge (I believe it was Jaron Lanier), I think I agree with it. One still need to be able to tell where the AI go wrong, and it will.

@cmconseils@mastodon.social you realize birds do get killed to provide people with their chicken, duck, turkey or whatever, right? The saying has historical roots and should be left alone in my opinion. It's use will most certainly stop on its own when we stop kiling other species to feed ourselves. Language manipulation in order to change the future or erase the past always make me uneasy and almost always backfire. Just my opinion, please don't shoot (or stone) me.

@AnnieG@mementomori.social @chu@climatejustice.social I wouldn't personnaly qualify the threat of "think as I do or be disowned" as love. Force a political agenda on your loved one and call it values if you want. As I said I'm just glad I never had to deal with this kind of psychological pressures from my mum.

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social Just as with the industrial revolution, many will loose their jobs but many job categories will be created. The professional landscape will look very different in a most categories in 10 years from now and there are real opportunities to be acted upon right now. Adaptability is key here because It's not going to stop because people are afraid (with reason). If it gives an advantage to those weilding it, it will stick. All in all businesswise a whole lot will remain exactly the same.

@danirabbit Not an apt comparison. AI is a tool. It does stuff. Stuff that I used to do myself. The hard way. You know, using my brain. Admittedly I didn't train that brain as thoroughly as I should have when I had the chance, but the tool will also do the things I'm not good at for lack of said training. Now, if AI is a drug than a calculator or a PC and even a smart phone are also drugs. I don't see any one of yall complaining today. There was a generation that did though. I wonder where...

Vertiges

Curieux language
Qui ne sait plus sourire
Qu'avec des mots qui écorchent

Curieux visage
Regard noir et intense
Ruine ce qu'il croit aimer

...

Curieux serments
Chant de sirènes
Au vents de marées amères

Curieux sourire
Qui se voile la face
Sans décrisper les lèvres

Curieux discours
De mots ascenseurs
Vers des étages absurdes

Curieux dialogue
De deux âmes fermées,
Captives d'enfers privés

...

Curieux vertige
L'amour est trop grand
Et mon cœur bien trop petit

@loriemerson@post.lurk.org I don't really get why a company feels that it has to force it's employees to use a tool. If the tool is as good as believed for employee's productivity that should be demonstrably so by now, isn't it? It seems to me that absolutely no tests were conducted before before adoption. Looks irrational and a lot like blind faith to me. I've seen new tools being introduced before, but with much much more caution.

@Viss I don't think this has anything to do with AI. Nobody really I cares how the presentation was created if the content is good and if the presence of a human presenter actually enhance it. AI is a tool, using it have nothing to do with the respect one may have or not have for his/her audience. AI doesn't make a bad presentation good or a good one bad. There's more worthy battles to be had regarding AI.

@jargoggles@kolektiva.social @loriemerson@post.lurk.org Companies are in the business of making the most money they can by whatever legal(-ish) way they can get away with. If AI actually improve their bottom line it'll stay whether we like it or not otherwise it'll disapear or change nature. In the end AI is just the latest way that was found to share human knowledge, we only haven't found a way to reward the humans producing said knowledge (yet). It's not magic or even intelligent. Clever? Very.

@lhauser@mefi.social @loriemerson@post.lurk.org A tool is a tool. As in some artificial mean one use to complete a task, generally faster and better than without it. That is true that what tool is used is decided by the company, but only normally only after careful evaluation of a few parameters valuable to the company, some of them being work efficiency, compatibility, synergy and greed. I may be wrong but it seems to me that the evaluation part is being botched.

@Strandjunker@mstdn.social Not really. God was the life giver in that story if I remember correctly. I don't believe there's real debate about who gave life. The whole process starts with one lucky spermatozoid and and ovule then the hard work of carying the process to term fall upon women. The point at which life starts is rather arbitrary and based on what one want to believe and very moot in my opinion.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social AI is like guns. Unless you can prove that it was a manufacture defect that killed a person gun makers are off the hook. It's 99.999% never their finger on the trigger. Somebody needs to intentionally (or nor) point and shoot. The shooter is then responsible. The same goes for AI. Now the morality of any of this is a different discussion. Especially knowing that manufacturers of both do their darn best for the things to be accessible to all.

@drfyzziks@makervine.net If that list is accurate it just means the US just didn’t want any agreement to pass so they came up with all the bullshit they could think of last minute. I don't know or care about their rationals. I hope there will be an official list of demands published for everyone to see.
AFAIC I'm done buying anything that comes from the US. There's excellent local and foreign alternatives for most if not all of it.

@reiver I don't know if I'm alone in this but I find it very hard to discover things that interest me in the fediverse. It's like I'm supposed to know somehow where the stuff I would want to follow are. I do want to drastically reduce my usage of google & co but so far beside Mastodon I haven't found good alternatives. I thing it's missing some sort of temperptoof user powered killer app that allow discovery, but maybe I've just been spoiled for so long and going about it the wrong way.

@webjac@mastodon.social @phillip@social.cologne @rzeta0@mastodon.ie @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu It a weird reasoning to say it's a free market so private companies can elect to lock it in every way they see fit. The way I see it is that it's not only a free OS market but also a free browser market, a free office software market, etc. That is what the EU is trying to protect. That being said Apple is able to provide this smooth experience for its users because it can control every aspects of it, so I also can understand their frustration with the EU.
