Hey there... Thanks to someone here, I've decided to setup a masto.host instance. Probably not going to be here long... I do need to sort some stuff out...
@timixretroplays Decided to suspend the instance receiving 2 from them, and spotting a third. Only one account was following here, and I couldn't find it, wasn't finding this account.
@Undercat I know very little, but maybe not exactly 100% friendly, but probably not all that unfriendly. Both Nanaimo and Victoria are decently diverse, with Nanaimo having some fairly strong, "logger et al" community which can be tricky to sus out if you're not familiar with them. I'd say decent, the walkability/bikeability I'm not that familiar with at all. Check out maps regarding that?
@cwebber@social.coop This *has* (officially as best I can tell) happened on matrix.org. It's not really as bad, but this is a right messed up situation. Thanks for sharing. As stated, for some it might not be obvious to some folk.
@clive@saturation.social There didn't seem to be a lot available. And I'm not sure how shipping would end up working. Batteries *can* be tricky to ship.
@clive@saturation.social I found I could buy a battery for the Toughbook, and it wouldn't be an issue to replace, but the options I found were going to be in the $100+ range (or maybe £100+) and it just didn't feel worth it. It might be an option now.
@clive@saturation.social Not sure how old the laptop I have Linux on is... Battery is essentially useless (about 15 minutes, which is reasonable if you are aware of that, and know you can move it without shutting down, and plug it back in), and has a Pentium III processor. For what I want it for (mostly writing) it's quite fair.

On the topic of getting @neilhimself@mastodon.social off of mastodon.social, I have to agree. I have already taken action against the lack of moderation there, but there are real people (not the likes of Neil who I'd not let sway my decision) who are on mastodon.social. And honestly... I think that even not having totally defederated, there's a fair chance limiting has been making it a lot harder to see random stuff from there.
@bascule@mas.to Hey... I would really consider it "not at all hard to confuse with dumpsters..." I'm pretty sure I've seen dumpsters with almost the exact same profile.
@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social I wasn't really thinking of it until you put the idea in my head... Now I want to get myself a truck load of liquid nitrogen, and give it a go...
@geoff@front-end.social Hey, I've been wanting to do this myself... So, this is great in my mind. Doesn't stop me wanting to do something myself. Just that you've got something good here, that I appreciate.
@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io I feel the need to pile on here... "I'd like to have a rational conversation about what you just said here..." I mean I do get it. This looks very relatedable. But I also think it resembles that comment.
@ariaflame@masto.ai@Dionysus@dice.camp Yeah, I've just not really had the energy to look. So, for now I'm working on doing some crafting or whatever when we get together.
@pheonix@hachyderm.io "Think of the children..." The reason I've seen, is "end to end encryption allows preditors to easily speak with children, and prey on them." But I'm not buying that. That's a way they are excusing their decision to have greater access to communications.
@scy@chaos.social The fuck... *years* later they are, "warning" me that they "might" delete data that was requested to be deleted. Yeah... That kind of hits home. I mean... I get why a privacy policy *may* be required, but it seems like if your product doesn't really communicate (well it might, I think some of them have the ability to use web hosted content (yep, text manipulation can take a URL).
@geoff@front-end.social I've mostly been lacking focus, and motivation. It sucks, but it certainly is a thing right now. The summer weather, I tend to be better able to get things done, but a lot of those things are out in the garden. I do want to look at what you've got there more fully. That might be enough to get some idea as to where to start.
@ariaflame@masto.ai@Dionysus@dice.camp Traditional D&D rules actually had the idea that you would play in a single "dungeon" and the actions of those playing one day, would affect the state of the dungeon another day.
I was really just trying to get *one* person to be able to come and make progress.
I still want to figure out how to manage 1 shot or something easier. Like can have a 2-3 hour session and being an enjoyable and "complete" session.
