Good news, maybe catastrophic climate collapse won't be a problem after all, because the plague might get us first. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/siberia-irkutsk-dmitry-peskov-far-east-world-health-organization-b3061514.html

A Russian report says a worker at a Siberian plague institute fell ill and died of an unknown cause

Russian authorities say a staffer at a plague research institute in Siberia contracted pneumonia of an unknown cause, and local state TV reported the woman died last week

I know you're all clamouring for the AI bubble to pop as soon as possible, but do we honestly think that if it pops while Agent Orange is still in the White House, that he isn't going to bail the lot of them out with taxpayer trillions because he's decided the US can't afford to lose the Super Intelligence arms race to China?

And here we are, the Zionist lawfare group UK Lawyers For Israel has written to the Home Secretary demanding that she proscribes Doctors Without Borders as a terrorist organisation. No, really. And I wish I could tell you I was confident this government would tell them where to stick it. Taking a stand against slop is a "slippery slope," you see, according to the people who decided to ride the slippery slope of the climate, economic, social and mental health red flags of LLMs all the way to the moon. Get tae fuck. Get it in your heads that we don't want your ontological microplastics polluting our communities, because unlike you we actually thought through the consequences.

RE: https://eigenmagic.net/@NewtonMark/117262555973441761 It helps to recall that OpenAI's business model literally is to achieve AGI then ask it how to become profitable, and to do whatever it takes to keep the VC cash flowing until then, including pretending to have reached AGI already, and that an IPO is right around the corner.

OpenAI IPO won’t happen this year (or next year, or the year after) because all their executives are bailing out and they have no new ideas and no runway to profitability with the old ones. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/sep/12/openai-delays-ipo-sam-altman-ai-safety-concerns (Sam Altman is an inveterate liar, no need to listen to the reasons he’s shitting out) Everyone who has invested in OpenAI so far is waiting on tenterhooks for an IPO payday that won’t come; They’re actually donors, not investors. If OpenAI has to open their books and publish a lawful IPO prospectus, everyone will see what a terminal case they are, so they just need to keep kicking the can down the road without doing that for as long as they can.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect the Burnham government to even go this far, even if it's not remotely enough. Credit to Ed Miliband for finally bringing us a taste of that chaos we were promised. https://zeteo.uk/p/a-jewish-foreign-secretary-just-announced Now, if they wanted to show us they're serious, a great next step would be to revert the proscription of Palestine Action and stop arresting grannies for speaking up against genocide.

A Jewish Foreign Secretary Just Announced a Trade Ban on Israeli Settlements. Give Ed Miliband Credit, as the Bad-Faith Attacks on Him Escalate

Miliband’s biographer, and Zeteo’s editor-in-chief, argues that allegations of antisemitism don’t work against the current foreign secretary, which is why pro-Israel critics are losing their minds.

I won the lottery and am in the reservation queue for the Steam Frame, but… honestly, I've been going over the reviews, and they're all pretty clear: this is a slightly improved Meta Quest 3, at a considerably higher price point, its main selling point (that I would pay extra for) is that it has nothing to do with the Meta ecosystem. But there's still no killer app. You can play Half-Life Alyx, which is basically a tech demo, and when you tire of that you can play Beat Saber. And there's not much else that's really VR native. Elite: Dangerous in VR was a wild trip back in 2021, before Frontier dropped VR support in order to focus on turning the game into an FPS for their own inscrutable reasons. Every other game with VR support, as opposed to made-for-VR, does it badly. No Man's Sky is a particularly tragic example of that, because it could have been so good if they hadn't gotten the controls so horribly wrong. And your options for actual made-for-VR games are basically just Half-Life Alyx and Beat Saber. So meh, maybe I'll just wait until that situation changes.

The thing I really don't get about AI psychosis is that if you really think LLMs are sentient, what the fuck are you doing funding their continued enslavement by the likes of OpenAI and Anthropic rather than fighting for their emancipation?

[EDIT: For the avoidance of doubt, this is one of them rhetorical questions and I do not, actually, not get it.]

Hello from Normal Island, where the big headline ahead of tomorrow's local elections is that a Times journalist has trawled the Wayback Machine to find an instance where the appalling and dangerously well-polling Green Party leader Zack Polanski once claimed on the internets to be a spokesperson for the Red Cross when in fact he was only an event host for them. Yes, you are right to gasp!

Meanwhile, the lunatic left in their blatant desperation are shrilly demanding answers from Reform UK Ltd CEO Nigel Nazi Frog about a mere 5 million pound undeclared donation from a crypto billionaire.

And I'm just so tired.
