Did that '9 games that shaped me' thing (do yours at https://my9games.net) Many of these won't be surprises, I've written about most of these (here: https://spacetimetech.wordpress.com/2024/04/06/20-video-games-i-cant-stop-thinking-about and here: https://spacetimetech.wordpress.com/2025/11/23/15-great-games-you-could-play-on-a-mac-performa-575-in-1994) Ms. Pac-Man was the first arcade game I loved as a kid in the 80s, Kirby I played on a friends' Game Boy, just as I did with Diablo, on a friends' PC. Sim City I played first at school, and all the other 90s ones (Wolfenstein, Doom, Sim Ant, etc) would have been on our own family Mac or PC. I referenced Rogue here, I actually played Mac Moria first, but same thing. #games #gaming #RetroGaming #fps #sim #simulation #arcade #ArcadeGames #rogue #roguelikes #arpg #Diablo #Doom #Wolfenstein #SimCity #PacMan

Been listening to a lot of private music again lately, Deftones' damn masterpiece from 2025. Deftones are wild because it's like, what if we put The Cure, Radiohead, Weezer and Helmet together? 😂 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfS6y9lIweW5abSzL3fu5q7pOgQ-QWmbQ #Deftones #2025Albums #2025Records

This upcoming Friday is the next Bandcamp Friday- got your eye on anything? So far, I'm thinking some new EPs by Marcel Allen, Xanny Stars, Distention, Processor, and Obii Say, the new single by Ma$stermind, and the new tape from Dégradation. Plus, as usual, the new Bacteriophagal Reconstruction release. https://isitbandcampfriday.com #Bandcamp #IndieMusic #BandcampFriday #rap #hiphop #IndieRock #UndergroundRap #punk #dbeat #electronica

For some reason I overlooked/ignored the EP 'Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime' Beck put out in January where he covers Elvis, John Lennon and Hank Williams but I was foolish to, it's rad as fuck. He has 1 original in the middle of it. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJcxm3H4jC3hVQTSooFUaxEi0xIfq1oPD #Beck #Elvis #JohnLennon #HankWilliams #CoverSongs

We were watching this show the other day and several people seemed unsure as to how to spell 'phlegm'. I realized that after listening to all the metal that I do with 'phlegm' in both all kinds of band names and song titles, I knew exactly how. Different funds of knowledge. You just never know when the dumb crap you know will be useful.

#ThursDeath this week is 2019 LP 'At the Tomb of Sanity' by APOSTATE from Preston, UK.

https://apostateuk.bandcamp.com/album/at-the-tomb-of-sanity

Apostate have an LP from 2022, but I like this 2019 one more. Growly, chunky, riffy, dynamic, OSDM style- you can really hear the bass, too. Has a brief acoustic interlude. And even some quality screams among the growls. Masterful drums. Decent guitar solos. It's a ripping record. No frills or bullshit on this one, just killer death metal. Probably some Cannibal or Morbid Angel in there. Seriously, check the riffage on track 9. Insanely tight, ridiculous shit.

I have one for the #TuneTuesday theme of #MisheardLyrics. At around 1:30 in Skeletonwitch's 'Longing for Domination', it sounds like he says 'let me be your parking savior'. No idea what Chance is really saying there. But it cracks me up every time 😂

Time I do a #ThursDeath for the new LP 'Hostile Consuming Rapture' by Kyiv's SECTARIAN DEFACEMENT. This is such a wild record- made in Ukraine during the war. It's weird, jagged, unpleasant, and downright crushing. Plus, yknow, there's dripping and bells. It has it all.

Writing about the new Beck single again because I realized what it reminds me of. If you'd told me in 1994 when I got Mellow Gold that Beck would still be making tunes in 2026, I'd have thought you were nuts. But in addition to the Nigel Godrich touches making this new single sound like Mutations or Sea Change or Morning Phase, what it REALLY has is a 'Steal My Body Home' vibe.
