I guess there was one thing about Texas that wasn't so bad.

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io apparently this dude, besides being a fascist, doesn't understand his own income. Most people of his ilk don't pay income taxes since they don't earn an income, they just borrow against their stocks and other money tricks. I'd be happy to keep people like him from voting though.

@ApostateEnglishman@mastodon.world @stux@mstdn.social unfortunately (at least in the US) there's zero problem purchasing wildly over powered laser pointers on eBay. (they're often mislabeled as class 2). It's terribly risky in regards to eyesight, but none of my business 😉

@petrillic@hachyderm.io @gsuberland@chaos.social @tubetime@mastodon.social when I worked there, one of the other systems engineers in my group tried to push this nonsense. I held the line against it til I left. now I'm working on even more accursed stuff in power electronics at another semiconductor company.

@xris@ecoevo.social @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org same up here in RI. Lots of folks I know only have old window units to try to fight the heat. It's gonna be a rough few days. I left Texas to avoid this kind of weather. Though I guess these days I'll have to expect it to happen once in a while

@indi@mefi.social @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org the really nice stuff doesn't have logos. A lot of times it's just nice to have something that doesn't look like everything else. Cheaper though just to modify it yourself and see a couple patches on to something inexpensive

@marc_eu @MarkHoltom Chinese companies aren't inherently bad, Geely makes pretty good stuff, and if you need a car, a used Polestar 2 is pretty nice and relatively cheap.
Good morning

little bit of a traffic jam here at DFW. Only been delayed two and a half hours so far. Hopefully not too much longer.
whelp, I kinda chewed someone out today when they asked for my help. I asked them to show me what they did to break it. Walking through the steps, there's a warning that pops up all in red. It basically says not to do what you're about to do and if you have to do it anyways, take the training that says how to do it right. Needless to say they did not in fact take the training since they "don't have time to read documentation". What would it be like to be that important, guess I'll never know.

@NicelyManifest@mastodon.social @MarkHoltom@mastodonapp.uk Everything that company makes is a stupid, over engineered, over complicated piece of junk. I got a handheld Dyson vac as a thank you gift at work one year. Its battery lasts about 3 minutes on high which is the only setting that effectively works. I use it to vacuum kitty litter that the cats kick out of the box, the only job it can last for.

got a few 2 dollar bills that my grandpa collected after he passed away. finally hung them up in our favorite neighborhood bar in Texas before we left.

@philip @mekkaokereke I wanted an electric car and there are almost no options in the US. Fortunately used Polestar 2s are relatively well priced. Honestly the nicest car I've ever owned. China knows how to make good cars. They're going to do the same thing with EVe the Japanese did in the 70s and 80s with small ICE cars

@Drwave I liked the Mercedes Benz museum. I unfortunately didn't have much time in the city since I only visited for work so can't offer much more than that.

@wcbdata I just made it to the Boston area after a long stint in the south. This would be very cool.

@malcircuit this is partially true but also, if it makes you feel better to write about it and analyze it, then you should continue and people can ignore or block as needed. There's nothing wrong with preaching to the choir.
