I suddenly thought about Sophie Ellis-Bextor yesterday and wondered what she might be up to musically these days
Apparently, she released an album last year called Perimenopop - which I confess I haven't listened to yet
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder on the Dance Floor

Inspired by the changing temperature and day length 🌡️
Today's song theme for #TuneTuesday is change, this could be weather change, but also any other types of change is fine too 🎶

Oh wow! @manon@metalhead.club shared this the other day and I'm only part of the way through, and it's awesome!
Benedict Cumberbatch is always super, and his opening barbed comment is funny but true
And there's the biologist who adores his job, "Smack the tree. Go on!" A wonderful natural way of being that's hilarious and great for the camera
Many thanks to Manon for the share 😃

#TuneTuesday
A song from an important year for #MySongMyYear for #TuneTuesday
Queen Radio Gaga
I remember this playing on the radio and Papa Kitty's older sister saying it was just nonsense, knowing full well that Papa Kitty loved it. Papa Kitty calmly and confidently just dismissed it as if nothing had been said
It was probably moments like this that created a parent who never questioned my music tastes and gave me complete free range to explore and listen to what I wanted
No matter how long the day may seem, darkness comes sooner or later 🌑
Today's #TuneTuesday theme is from @lpl@metalhead.club#EnterNight songs about falling darkness and going to bed

This meeting was a pair of fedi messages
Early last week I got a music theme that was inspired by some weekly photo hashtags and then @neurothing@metalhead.club had a theme last Thursday that coincidentally linked to it
Today's #TuneTuesday theme is #WindowsAndDoors

Some healing and electronica for today's #MusicWomenWednesday with Maria Franz
one of the two vocalists in Heilung, an experiemental folk band
and also the vocalist for Euzen, an electronica band
The two different styles are very different, but Maria Franz is glorious in both 🎉

Today is the day that Meta globally turns off privacy tech for private messages on Instagram
It's interesting to see that Mastodon is going in the opposite direction of working to add privacy tech to direct messages
Also, the article talks about how user content is fed into AI training
Something else that Mastodon does not do

Something that @moonshinebrigade@musicworld.social shared with me that is so cool, maybe you'll like it too.
I'd heard about different projects to help fish migrate and even visited the salmon ladder in Pithlochry a couple of times (but sadly not during the migration season)
In this awesome video on the website there are so many fish! And the guy names them as they are seen and the projects they have running. Mainly in Dutch, but with wonderful English subtitles

Scroll down a bit to find the video ;)
Want a laugh? Watch a video on a scallop swimming.
It's other worldly and hilarious! Third video and fourth video clips are the best
I am working, this is just a strange rabbit hole I fell down while trying to explore something serious.
Link to an article on how scallops swim, it has mini video clips of scallops swimming that automatically start as you scroll

@elithebearded@fed.qaz.red That is bizarre. But if you look at the whole image, it appears to be made up of different clip art things put together to form a larger scene...
Replying to
@lpl@metalhead.club @HailsandAles@metalhead.club Things are getting greyer all the time. A band label is not always an indicator as sometimes lesser well-known bands have to go with what it offered. From what I understand, unless you are already established, or very lucky, then it is hellishly hard to get a foothold up in the industry.
And this isn't me making excuses or brushing things under the carpet, it seems to be the reality of things right now.
Replying to
@lpl@metalhead.club @HailsandAles@metalhead.club I've got no idea about this band or the record label. I'm well behind on the Madrillenian metal scene.
If you have a feeling something is off I'd look at the band members, the record label and the musical company they plan to keep with any festivals and concerts they are scheduled to do.
Replying to
@lpl@metalhead.club @HailsandAles@metalhead.club Isn't Blut As Nord and Ulcerate with that label?
Replying to
@SunDancer@metalhead.club Genau! I'm getting that feeling. It has the potential to kill the industry to new musicians and artists :(
Replying to
@SunDancer@metalhead.club Good question. I've not got any answer beyond, these days it's a matter of faith in the bands and artists producing it, as anything else, who knows?

The cool thing about a decentralised system with no overarching algorithm is that we all get different experiences.
As a mod, I keep an eye out & see stuff that non-mod users don't see unless it breaks containment & becomes a big issue.
For the second time this week I've just seen stuff that mastodon.social has dealt with so well that if you weren't in the right place, at the right time and fast enough, you would not be aware of it.
When you see something negatively affecting the system some time in the future, please spare a thought for all the stuff that is being done to keep your timelines and feeds running well 🙏

@harriolkn@metalhead.club Oh! I really didn't mean to steal your thunder. I'm so sorry 🙏

@HailsandAles@metalhead.club
My choice for today's #FunkyChickenFriday is:
System of a Down - Chop Suey
A #ThursdayFiveList with #LGBTQPlusMusicians
These musicians are so big that I can't just give one song for each, so here's an album for each ;)
Judas Priest Invincible Shield
Queen News of the World
Skunk Anansie The Painful Truth
David Bowie The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
Erasure The Innocents
Someone found this useful, so I will share in case it helps others:
If you log into your fediverse account using a web browser you can explore the account settings and find things that are not available via the mobile applications
There it's possible to find lots of things, such as:
Set account to slow mode - stop the constant motion of your feeds so you can look when you have time
Add an alt text to your banner and profile pictures
See server announcements
If you change some settings & save them, they will remain changed when you go back to using your mobile application :)
