#Iran is more than half the area of EU with a population larger than that of Germany and has been building defense systems for decades after engaging with war with #Iraq for a long long time. Anyone who thought it would have been easy or short to attack and control Iran was either illiterate (Geography/History) or a total fool. What was achieved was the near long term closure of the Hormuz strait and enough remaining hostility between Gulf countries to make oil export problematic and less competitive. Some US based oil interests benefit from this, some are hurt. The only interest IN Iran and its infrastructure was the insecurity of Israeli elites who can never sleep easy being too close to their biblical enemy Insecurities by the rich and poweful have always costed in thousands of innocent civilian deaths, torture, suffering. The only reason we see very active kernel development is due to it being financed by a handful of mostly US based hardware companies who must test every single prototype they develop. This is why the blob of blobs has been growing for years at enormous amounts of space, cpu to compile, space to compile, and every little tiny piece of hw comes with code the kernel must recognize the hw with. So if linux 5.4 works in its final edition 12/25 for your i486 and all the software you need is there .. who cares what newer versions do? Theoretically it will boot up and run the same in april 22 4026 What new hw you can find released on the market tomorrow already works with linux-lts, probably fine with 2-3 versions of lts before current. MS and MacOS will probably not support it for some time to come, because it takes them time to steal the free code and adopt it to their crappy system. BSD is a bit slower and underfunded so nowhere as fast. one of the most interesting projects/campaigns tor-community did years ago, hopefully it continues, was to physically go to librarians and attempt to convince them that in true public library spirit they should use tor in all their public terminals for users to browse, to maintain their anonymity and personal data and to promote its use to library users who didn't know. The convincing argument was why should a private or state agent (google-nsa) be behind your neck recording what you read who you are and what you are interested in. A library should protect its users. Brilliant just as an idea to be brought into discussion, a public discussion. What happens in #Iran stays in #Iran, very little of it leaks out, but the only rich theocratic totalitarian cliques I know about directly are those here in Europe. I wouldn't wish such intolerance and rights abuses for Iranians despite of what they may be facing. But why would you say such nasty things about Iran, did anyone ever tried to attack Iran to liberate its people? On the other hand, if wealth and power is concentrated in a small social group then abuses and injustice is expected. From the social statistics published worldwide and by UN/WB among the Muslim dominated countries Iran appears to have a greater distribution of wealth and power, even to women. Iraq was pretty good too before it was demolished by the infidels, Libya, Palestine .. by far were better than the rest. Saudi Arabia being in the very bottom of earth in human rights and distribution of wealth and power. Are you concerned with social injustice, take a closer look at those South of the Strait of Hormuz. I highly recommend some quality Iranian films as a small glimpse of what life in Iran is like. I would also do a quick review on articles about European political prisoners and activity in solidarity to them, because corporate media is painting a rosy picture. The capital/parliament of Europe is Brussels, and so is the headquarters of NATO. Take a look of what that is like these days, half the cops wearing a swastika in the open and waving in public like Hitler passed in front of them. Then we can speak of Hamenei and why Israelis don't seem concerned at all with #BELGIUM @VoxClamans@infosec.exchange @welkin7@mstdn.party

How can one separate those who have power with those that have wealth, neither have the one without some of the other. Neither are more or less the elite, and desperately need each other to be the elite.

But predator class is a good proposal, even though we don't all perceive as the "elite" being better than us, just the material realization they are wealthier and more powerful than us.

If this doesn't call for re-theorizing on class and its defilition, I don't know what does.

In state capitalism the inequality was political, few had the power to decide.
