Received wisdom and conventional wisdom is over hyped. Do not accept things blindly or just because that is what the crowd says. Others will not accept the views and what you are, make peace with that.

@alex_p_roe@mastodon.world @Nonilex@masto.ai There is a French system similar to US Patriot. But it is not produced in big numbers. The AP article mentions that there is a factory in Germany coming online to supply Patriots to Europe, so much of European demand will be covered. What is surprising that #Germany did not buy the #French system. Nor did other #European countries. #Europe has an European alternative but is unwilling to commit to it and make it viable economically.

@mustapipa@scicomm.xyz Is that what happened on Venus? An arid planet with water less than 20-50% of water which could not recycle Carbon back thus unable to maintain an equilibrium. If maximum amount of water was deposited on Earth during late heavy bombardment then wont that bombardment also delivery water to both Mars and Venus too? In equal measure?

@mrundkvist Not by much. Galaxy merges are a slow processes taking eons. The chances of two stars colliding are low. However there is a possibility of close stellar encounters increasing, but again not by much. It does depends on which part of the galaxy the planet is and which around which star it revolves around. There is a hypothesis of owl type galaxies having 3 or more SMBH. If that is the case then position of the star w.r.t the SMBH does impact the planet.

@caseynewton Time for #OpenAI to shed its last duplicity coat of doing good and being a non-profit. It never was and #Sam has been clear about it. #OpenAI is no different than #Microsoft or #Google or #Meta or others. STOP thinking about it as good for mankind or working towards it. The mission statement of #OpenAI is to generate profits.

@hanse_mina Cool, so it can be expected that #Ukranian forces will beat back these advances and not loose any more territory. Right? Right? Does #Ukraine have a path to win or to end this war without loosing more territory or manpower? Does #Ukraine have a path in which it can rebuild its economy without mortgaging its assets and resources?

During the #NagornoKarabakh conflict of 2022, #Armenia triggered the mutual defense clause of #CSTO. However #Moscow could not come to the aid of #Yerevan because of the on going #SpecialMilitaryOperation in #Ukraine. #US will be face something similar, soon. It will get entangled in a #Taiwan contingency. And when that happens, if another treaty ally or allies were to trigger the mutual defense clause of their treaty with #Washington they will be left to fend on their own. #NATO #GeoPolitics

#Iraq WMD intelligence by CIA was a hoax. Political necessity was the cause.

#Iran imminent threat or imminent nuclear break out by CIA was a hoax. Political necessity was the cause.

Now election integrity, due to interference from #China, is the new intelligence from CIA. Is this another hoax? Meant to prevent the inevitable washout in mid terms? Or to set the stage for what happens post mid terms?

#Iran's economy is battered. It will need north of 300 billion to get back in shape. #Iran will need to sell 80 billion worth of produce per year for a decade just to build it back. That is provided no money is sent to #Hezbollah, #Hamas, etc. There are indications that Iran has been prioritizing sending money to #Hezbollah and possibly #Houthis even over #IRGC units.

#Ayatollahs have a choice to make.

Assuming 25% of those are in the estimated age bracket who would like to have #AI girlfriends that is 0.875 million. Now many people are afflicted with #Cancer these days? The numbers, the economics of scale just does not compare. 🤣 No offense intended. Just giving out back of envelope numbers.

@randahl@mastodon.social It had been suggested prior to the start of operation epic fury that it would be so much better if #Israel stuck #Iran first and then #US joined in, just like it did in the operation rising lion. The reasoning is that #US can maintain legally that it did not initiate the war. It just helped out a major non-NATO ally which is #Israel. This way #Trump can simply go around legal obstacles. While claiming and basking in its glory. #StopWar ☮️

@mustapipa@scicomm.xyz #Venus had volcanism so it can be assumed to have plate tectonics too. Does this mean that if we decrease amount of sunlight reaching #Venus by say 20%, we can carry out Geoengineering to make it habitable once again? We will off course need bacteria and other microorganisms that thrive in heavy CO2 atmosphere.
