At the same time, experts point out that the work highlights how host genetics influences the impact of microbiome maturation on risk. A tool for a more accurate picture Understanding the role of microbiome development in the progression of diabetes could lead to early diagnosis and prevention strategies. Combining microbiome data and genetic information can yield a much more accurate picture, as genetics influence the extent to which certain bacterial patterns increase the risk. For the foreseeable future, researchers hypothesize a reality where microbiome analysis can be integrated into periodic pediatric checkups during the first years of life.
