@FritzAdalis@infosec.exchange @Epic_Null@infosec.exchange @nerdpr0f@infosec.exchange @Tanath@mastodon.social @cR0w@infosec.exchange the gap between software engineering and internet related software development is staggering, and something silicon valley has worked hard to obfuscate. Real engineering is accompanied by documented accountability. I'm a software developer; a software engineer is someone like Dr. Grace Hopper.

@BobWilliams@mindly.social @StaceyCornelius@zeroes.ca depending on when it was made, it might be a "pentalobe" that looks like torx until you get a magnifying glass.

@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange taking notes myself is a primary mechanism for how my brain works. Writing shit down gives me enough time to digest what I'm writing, and formulate follow up questions.
AI note taking sucks, because it robs me of that opportunity, and at the same time gets basic shit completely wrong.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social well, we're made in his image, so the neighbours definitely can't be complaining about intercourse. After all, humans were created by god and that guy is perfect, so fucking is worship, right?
Hey, I'm just following their logic and rules, so it couldn't be the loud pleasurable sound. Must've been all the summoning, it's only logical!

@emilymbender I really appreciate you not only dealing with this type of internet asshole, but that you both call them out, and that you're still sharing your knowledge with us. I'm far better off for having read The AI Con, and for continuing to learn from you as the collective internet decides critical thinking is for chumps and the future is all next tokens and ponzi schemes.

@FediThing I've had good luck with indigo.ca giving me actual epub files I can load into calibre, but I'm not sure it applies to every eBook or just a subset of what they sell

@plut0nian the lonely island and Seth Meyers podcast is a lot of fun, if you're a fan of high-effort and precision in your nonsense.

@plut0nian don't try to get into it from the middle, there's a huge amount of contextual humour that's built up with the audience, so I recommend listening chronologically from the beginning.
Righteous kill.

@veronica feels like the devs assumed unique answers but didn't guard against it. I love little Easter eggs like this in code.
For example, on my Google TV, they let me select every check box in their survey, including "none of the above" so I select everything (which specifically includes none of the selected options) then submit.

@veronica my home is a shrine to jank. Things mostly work, many bits of tech are DIY or repaired hardware with new firmware. My phone is running GrapheneOS (thanks for the excellent videos on that, BTW), and I've abandoned most visible algorithms. My Bluetooth mic doesn't quite work right cuz I repaired my headphones.
Decentralised and janky reminds me why I fell in love with tech in the first place. Convenience kinda sucks the fun out of it.
If you can't open it, you don't own it.

Dear neighbour,
Thank you for your note, and welcome to the neighbourhood! I'm sorry about the noise, although I'm a bit surprised. We've always kept the noise down when summoning demons, so I'm shocked your daughter was able to overhear. I'll be sure to chastise Pazuzu for the racket, and keep that one limited to daylight hours only.
P.S. - would you like to come over and share a blood offering?
Sincerely,
Your Godless Neighbours
