For a while now I use #3Things for my daily mundanities, that way I can post good and bad... i.e. reality.
I'm not good with toxic positivity (I had _that_ mother), which is what #3GoodThings feels like to me.

It said "this page asked for zero permissions." That's an outright lie. It asked to create a webGL context, which my browser (Librewolf) let me decline.
And it got a lot wrong, including my computer type, public IP address, screen resolution (twice) and trackpad. So I'll sleep OK tonight.

My understanding of what makes me me. I'm about to hit 59 by the way.
I've had the @threehillsfarm #Pixelfed account for the farm pics for a couple of weeks now, and this is what I found.
Good:
1. If you mouse over your pic, you see the alt text, unlike Mastodon (desktop)
Bad:
1. Instead of a grid like Mastodon, albums (multi-pic posts) are shown as the first pic plus some almost-invisible little dots for navigating to the others (desktop and mobile)
2. No arrow key navigation between pics in an album unless you magnify with the tiny icon in the corner (desktop)
3. If pics in an album are a different shape, the timeline content shifts as you navigate between them, and the navigation dots are often over the pic itself, so if it contains any blue and white, you have no way to tell it's an album and are totally screwed (desktop)
4. Clicking a pic to magnify it only works on single pics, not on albums (desktop)
The experiment is over. The Pixelfed UI is driving me crazy with its poor choices and I will not use it any more. As a UX specialist I'm perhaps more sensitive to this than some, but it is what it is.
My farm pics will stay right here on my Mastodon profile, and I will limit my multi-pic posts to 4 at a time.
I'll post something on the Pixelfed profile to steer people back here.

Not sure where the 20,000 figure comes from. Wikipedia and its sources express uncertainty and any correlation with low water levels in local rivers would put them at 15,000 to 9,000 years old.

Could be autistic burnout, could be extreme fatigue for other reasons, could be a major depressive episode, could be dehydration as others have said. Could be a combination. (I speak from experience of all four)
Look after yourself. Hydrate and rest and try not to be angry or frustrated at yourself for going through this. It's not disrupting your life; it's an episode _in_ your life. It will pass.

Fair enough - but how many people realise the distinction? I wasn't 100% clear myself as a lifelong techie. So at this point it's probably more of a cultural absorption thing.

It is interesting, but probably inevitable.
Gmail is pushed in people's faces at every turn and is (I believe) needed for an Android phone. It even rhymes with email and has become completely absorbed into the culture - like calling a vacuum cleaner a Hoover.
And Github is pretty much the only account that's still essential for work (for some of us). It's needed by devs, not necessarily to host their own code (we have Codeberg for that now!) but to submit and discuss bugs in other libraries. Often it's the only feedback route offered so we can't really drop it.
