Triangular in shape. Chock full of nutritious seaweed and tasty egg bits! Been here since the first mass Masto Migration. I’ve been known to paint, sing and do beadwork, but not all at the same time. 😉🎨🎤🧵Selling ACEOs on eBay as “naturenutty”. Unpopular Opinion:
It’s kinda hard for me to get excited over NASA news while wondering how we’re gonna make ends meet this month and whether or not we can afford to keep our home because a president with dementia on the opposite side of the Pacific is single-handedly destroying the economy of the Asian country I’m living in.
I finally put up some more artwork on my online shop. I’d really love it if y’all came by and had a little peek. 😁 Painting is how I soothed myself when I was a lonely, nerdy Autistic kid. Now that I’m a lonely, nerdy Autistic old lady, I find it even MORE important to create! 😅
Much more to come! Your support helps me keep surviving while doing what I love. ☺️❤️

Everyone needs more free stuff in life...
I’ve been taking my old photos of my travels throughout Japan and Korea out of The Vault, The Archives, and am making little mini zines out of them so I can enjoy them in my hands as opposed to revving up my hard drive and seeing them on a boring screen every time.
So tired of screens… So tired.
Wanna see what I’m up to?
For free? ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
You can download your own copy of Issue 3: Susukino Nights at my Ko-fi page and see for yourself. :)
Just Passing Through zines aren’t travel guides. Rather, they’re little visual experiences in paper form. Full-color but intentionally faded to make the images feel like the distant memories they are, typewriter font glued on to remind me of all the fun zines I’d make in my early college days, they take me back to all the cool visual collections my Dad had, like risograph QSL (ham radio contact confirmation) cards from Japan, old paperback sci-fi digest magazines and monochrome travel books. I intend to keep making these as long as my printer and laptop hold out.
I have 16 total made so far about Japan and will be releasing them as able. Ko-fi allows you to follow along in my progress and get notifications whenever I make a drop. Support is always welcome, but the free issue is yours regardless. ☺️
For fans of all things Japan, for globetrotters and arm chair travelers alike, for people who like collecting zines and other small publications, for folks interested in Far East Asian culture and nature, the Just Passing Through series is for you, too (though I made them primarily for myself, lol!) 😁
Things I Love About Linux: 🥰
*Stability (only 1 crash so far and zero freezes in half a year)
*Choices (so many choices of programs to customize your experience!)
*Subscription-free
*GIMP ❤️❤️❤️
*No annoying popups (unless I set up Linux to give me them)
*Easier on the eyes
*No pressure to use AI
*No celebrity gossip, news or other US toxic culture in my face
*Installing programs via Bash (because it’s fun)
*Reliability
There are many more but I have to eat breakfast. 😁
Dearest Friends,
After 25 years of traveling through Japan & Korea, I’m beginning a new art publication series built from my archives of photographs, memories, and hand-painted postcards.
Every few weeks I’ll release a small downloadable set: a painted postcard from a special place, along with a tiny printable photo zine expanding on its atmosphere and feeling.
My traveling days are mostly over for now due to chronic illness and financial limits, so this project has become a new way for me to travel — through memory, art, and sharing these places with others. As long as my computer and printer hold up (and they don’t like each other), I’ll make this happen.
The series begins where my life in Asia began: Otaru, followed by Sapporo, my first home in Japan.
If you’d like to travel alongside me and support the project, I’d love to have your company on my Ko-fi page. 🤍
Thank you so much for your time, your re-toots, your encouragement and ideas, and of course your support. You all are an incredible bunch of amazing people. ❤️🙏

Adult crying no matter the anatomy needs to be normalized in US culture, holy geez!
If I were Putin and wanted to lay waste to the United States, I would bribe or coerce someone to do every single thing this current president is doing.
If we all survive this, how about the people of the world agree on two principles:
1) never again vote for a racist malignant narcissist fascist
2) quickly excise the lesion before it becomes a terminal cancer
“We need foreigners to grow, harvest and process our food.”
“We need foreigners to work in our factories.”
“We need foreigners to raise our children.”
“We need foreigners to clean up after us.”
“We need foreigners to serve us.”
“But we don’t need foreigners to live among us.”
🤔
Hate to break it to y’all, but you’re stuck with us (immigrants). Better learn to adapt fast.
I’ve heard (4) separate Democratic/Left-Leaning podcasters announce within 2 days that they prefer J.D. Vance over the current president.
And I can’t help but feel I’m being manipulated again.
I prefer a general election, personally, not the feeling that I have to accept whatever comes.
Former South Korean president Yoon sentenced to life in prison for declaring martial law and causing an insurrection last year.
This is the result of what happens when the public rise up as one and doesn’t stop with the pressure of protest until justice is done.

I feel like I was hit by a car! (And I know first-hand what that feels like).
Looks like I’m spending the night with Tylenol, tonight…
I feel so stupid! What timing! Just when my life was seeing rays of hope!
Silent prayers for the thousands of souls lost and countless more affected by the horrible earthquakes, tsunami and radiation fiasco that occurred fifteen years ago today in Japan. 🙏😢
My husband and I were there in Kanto when it happened. The quake was so big, trains flipped their tracks and it was impossible for me to take the 2-hr train commute back home. Hubby slept in his car that night because sleeping in the apartment was too scary (debris and broken glass everywhere, power, gas & water/sewer all knocked offline). We were finally able to reunite the following afternoon, but there was no food or water in any of the shops or convenience stores; people were panic buying. After the power came on and we both saw the smoking TEPCO reactor on our TV, petrified, we packed only the essentials and self-evacuated to Osaka. There we heard a report on NHK that the tap water in our city had been irradiated and declared unsafe to drink.
It was a mess. We decided, since we both became displaced due to the quake (I could no longer make the commute and the building Hubby’s school was in was deemed unsafe) we decided to move to Kansai where the quakes were fewer.
Our story had a happier ending than so many. We were lucky. We both could get money from family, my boss was understanding, I got a new job quickly and we saw some fantastic scenery touring Japan while living out of our car.
But so many didn’t make it. Some drowned. Others died from falling debris. Some got sick from living in the shelters and passed away. Many were forced to permanently evacuate due to their town being washed away, or sealed off from their homes due to nuclear contamination. Even today thousands remain displaced, many still in grief from having lost loved ones and their livelihood.
Thanks for the well-wishes last night, Everyone. ❤️🥰 I didn’t get any sleep but the pain cleared up about 70% on its own this morning. ☺️ I can move around a bit more than yesterday. The injuries are mild at best, not serious. I hope you’re doing better today too.
Hey! Where do all the #artistsonmastodon and #artlovers on Mastodon hang out? Where you be at?

I can’t imagine what it would feel like to be a Christian who voted for a literal antiChrist.
The amount of lying to myself I would have to do…
The number of excuses I would have to tell people, or to my children if I had any…
The mental gymnastics involved in rationalizing my decision…
Okay so I just ordered me a cheap bed tray table so I can keep chipping away at my business To Do list, keep making art and working on my projects while laid up on my rear. It should be here Saturday. No more pity party!
I’ll make this work! Grrrrrrrr!!! 💪 :wecan:

Come to South Korea to visit, but not to job search. Even if you’re from this country, many companies will advertise they’re offering jobs with 8-hr work days. But once they lock you in and you can’t afford to back out, they might tell you you’re working a ten-hour day, or work 6 days a week instead of the promised 5, or make you attend drinking parties you can’t really afford, or trap you in an alternating 12-hour shift, day shift one week, night shift the next.
Be careful out there. Work-life balance is a foreign concept here, and any laws passed to improve workers’ health are rarely enforced.
A bone-chilling harbinger of the corporate overtaking of American media.
And one of the best – and definitely one of the most prophetic – movies I’ve ever seen.
