You're hanging out with a different bunch of software engineers than I am.

Also, as soon as you are completely dependant on it, the price will drastically increase.

The request for approval to launch a million satellites is not so much a request to launch a million satellites as a request for carte blanche for whatever rocket-oriented activities they want to do for the next few decades, without having to ask permission each time.
Apparently they did not give a lot of specific details in their request, that's so they can use the blanket approval for whatever they want.

Scientists have crossed the DNA of a crab with a cheetah.
They had to cancel the project because things went sideways *real* fast.

As a young teen, I made some rules for myself. One was, if a guy shows violent tendencies (hits me even once for example) then I would break off the relationship. No changing my mind no matter what he says. One strike, he's out.
Also by nature I do not join relationships with manipulative people so probably I have avoided some violent partners that way.
Stick to meeting people at home (if you have housemates) or in public places in the early stages of the relationship.

I have to admit, some sw engineers are horrified by the applications that business people want to use generative AI for, and some are keen.
But even the podcasters that talk about AI are saying it is not ready for prime time. Then they narrate or play a rah-rah ad. It's quite disorienting. But they need the money I guess.

Wash them every second wearing instead of every wearing, helps with longevity. Washing results in a lot of wear and tear.
Well, "tear". I guess by definition you are reducing the "wear" if you do this : -)

Any satellite with a computer and data link (ie, any satellite) can fit the description of "data centre".

Those of us who do not have cats really like being able to see cats in zoom meetings. So thank you!

re-Cycles is great, if you volunteer there you can earn time on their workbenches using their tools. You supply and/or pay for parts/supplies.
Location: Catherine, just east of Bronson.

An election with only one allowed outcome is not an election.
This "election" is performative, to make people think they can still vote so they will accept all these measures. If they get away with it, it will be the last one. This performative election is the last faint chance to object to fascism, that is why they are spending so much - to render any opposition to the current administration ineffective so that resistance will fail.

"Every packet transiting to the internet is validated at egress against a DNS8 lookup and a WHOIS8 registered active route."
I can see why people think it is a joke.
How to slow down transit times.
I only got as far as this, not sure what a "WHOIS8 registered active route" is. Probably don't want to know.
Eeeuuuuggghh.

Depends on the length of the pattern repeat, and on how the pieces are laid out.
Eg, if the front right and left are placed vertically and the pattern is large, you may need to move the second piece a little further down so that the pattern on right and left will look good when the pieces are placed side by side.
If the printed design is small scale (teensy flowers or other object) it may not matter too much. But for bold, large prints, it matters a lot more.

Yes, yes it is. We could be removing the gecos field instead of adding stuff to it.
And systemdb adding cruft (avatars) is not great. It could ... not do that.
For those who want a debian-based linux without systemd, there is #devuan.

I remember that time. The distress looking at the picture is more remembered than imagined.
My parents smoked at home. It wasn't like the picture at home, but we did sometimes go to social events like that. Or go for a drive in a car with smokers. That was the worst.

I don't see a lot of the bad stuff, not because I skip over it, but because I have blocked with abandon.
I'm not saying this to tell others to block like me (I did it to excess actually), but to explain to those who do not see the bad posts that there might be a reason they don't see them. Not everyone here has the same experience. Also, different instances might block whole other instances.
So, when someone says they are being harassed, believe them the first time they say it.

Not just "AI". I can't believe people rush to subscribe to taps where techbros siphon our money.
You want to call people? There's a subscription for that. You want to listen to music/watch movies? There's a subscription for that. You want to have a door camera? There's a subscription for that. You want to make dinner? There's a subscription for that. You want to edit documents? There's a subscription for that. You want to learn a language? There's a subscription for that.
