We did a lot of chopping today which was a bit of a slog, but we did create some new views into the undergrowth, and found some wee treats. Not the easiest to photograph mind you. There were some uncooperative branches still in the way, awkward angles, and local acquaintances passing by with cheery 'hellos' leaving me in a quandary about whether to try and explain what I was doing or not (I decided not - just went with a cheery hello). Woohoo! It's Friday! Last week we had a Punch Nazis Friday Dance & a repeated comment was, basically, "the punch is good, but I was waiting for the kick in the nadgers too". 😆 This was a good point well made, so my plan this week was to do that. Will be easy-peasy I thought - a bit of a can can dance & we're sorted. But I started a bit late, & it turns out there is a scaling issue with the angle of a can can kick & the sheer size of the fash needed for it to meet said nadgers. So aye. Bit of a failure. When I started the FFS project I mentioned a poster of the resulting graphics, and I was playing around with the idea with the few I've done so far. Main realisations are that it definitely needs to be a Proper Web Project too, as a poster will be quite limited in space and can't expand to the same scale (a web thing is in progress), and I think I need to redo the Welsh one, as I have got in a pattern with the others and the colours of the Welsh letters are a bit off. I quite like them against a black background though. There's definitely going to need to be a decision about lots and lots of examples all quite small, or just picking a few out. Anyhow, just thinking out loud really. #theFFSproject #colourfulLanguage

I've been meaning to add a note about use of my images & animations to pin to my profile, so here goes. First up, big thanks to the people who have asked me for permission to use them. I genuinely appreciate the politeness, & enjoy knowing when they travel beyond my feed & website, but also, you don't HAVE to ask my permission in most cases. This isn't intended as "don't talk to me", but it is intended as "if you don't want to talk to me, there are still things you can do". 1 /n

Ah, dammit. A bit of work has come in that is based on an existing InDesign file, but I no longer have InDesign.

I could just go for a free trial, but I'd rather find a long term alternative. I've been putting it off because I don't do much print work and I think a little bit of me hoped I just wouldn't need to sort it out.

I have a list of possibilities, but could really do with a shortcut to evaluating them all to work out what's best.

If you've moved away from InDesign and have a nice alternative for:

• opening existing INDD files

• making changes to images and copy

• exporting to a PDF for a professional printing company

can you let me know what you're using please?
