@beyondmachines1@infosec.exchange Good luck re-hiring those people - or hiring any people at all. They now know exactly what they are worth to you.

Power plant in a brook where a mill used to be. It's on the property of a conference hotel, and provides the entire house with electrical energy. It could power 90 (ninety) households.

@d1@autistics.life @misty@digipres.club I got myself Linux on my main PC right before that symposium. Zero regrets.

@epistomai @selzero The Palantíri are seeing stones that were originally a gift from the elves and installed all over the kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor as communication devices. Sauron got his hands on one of them after taking Minas Ithil/Minas Morgul. He then used it to spy on others, and drive Denethor insane. But the Palantír is not the Eye of Sauron.

@StefanThinks People, please, it's "Schrödinger". If you don't have the ö letter on your keyboard, write "oe" instead. Everything else is incorrect. O and Ö are two completely different letters.

@misty@digipres.club I raised this matter back in January at our annual company council's symposium. I was told by the head of IT that it would be too difficult to migrate an entire company. People were quite willing to heed my warning and switch to European software themselves, but on a company, level, nothing has been done. If push comes to shove, I'll be the only person able to do any work - if we can somehow get assignments with our e-mail not working. Guess we'll have to go back to sending letters =/

@passwordsarehard4@mastodon.social @misty@digipres.club No, that was part of my epic speech. I told them that if the Evil Orange told Microsoft to shut down all European accounts, we'd be up shit creek without a paddle. Her concern was that the users, in particular the older ones/the less adept ones, wouldn't handle the transition well. Well, I'm not giving up yet - we're actually two different companies having a joint council, and our smaller company just got a new IT administrator 😈
