I hate how some companies these days insist on using vibe coding for everything and won't let their devs code stuff by hand anymore. They seem to think AI is some magic wand that you can wave at any problem and it's automatically fixed. Like a one-step solution for everything. Goes to show these people have no understanding of how AI works. Idiots always believe in one-step solutions.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social In my experience, it's mostly poor, uneducated white men who vote Republican. People who make six figure salaries tend to be highly educated and tend to vote Democrat. Sure, the billionaires will still vote Republican, but they're a tiny fraction of the people who make $100,000+/year. I'd say this is a classic case of "Be careful what you wish for."

@smutmag Something like that happened in the US where Republicans in red states voted to allow tech companies to build massive data centers in rural red areas that are driving up their electricity costs while primarily benefiting people in blue cities. It's a beautiful irony that conservatism seems almost self-defeating in the sense that it will always destroy itself for the good of corporations.

If anything, it disrupts the banker/government axis's monopoly on currency, which prevents them from doing things like freezing your assets because you said something they didn't like in some kind of social credit system. Now memecoins, on the other hand, serve no purpose and need to go away.

Vibe coding is just making the problem way worse. Part of the problem is the capitalist system prioritizes getting a product to market before anyone else over the quality or security of that product.

@climagic Usually when I find vulnerabilities in software, I just quietly exploit them for my own purposes rather than reporting them. Like I discovered a super-easy exploit for bypassing hotlink blocks in image searches over five years ago that I'm still using to this day. Hell, even Lowes Hardware has their own AI now. It's insane, and it's completely unsustainable. If anything bursts the AI bubble, it will probably be the energy crisis that results from having way too many data centers that demand more energy than is actually available.

I think part of the reason time seems to speed up when you get older is because you settle down into a routine and your life becomes monotonous. Now that every single day is like a new episode of some dystopian thriller show, anything more than two weeks old feels like ancient history.
