Castlevania 40th Anniversary Celebration | KONAMI
I found a ridiculously good deal on FB marketplace today.
Someone sold me these two wireless Xbox controllers for $20, not each but for both!
I cleaned them up and updated the firmware. The one on the right has been really used a lot. I had to replace the rubber pad on the left thumbstick but both controllers work perfectly with no stuck drift! A rare find nowadays

Ok the person I purchased this from didn’t know the specs. I purchased it for $80 and booted up Linux Mint from a USB thumb drive. Here, I was able to confirm the specs.
The computer currently doesn’t have an internal drive.
It’s a 2010 model Mac Pro
CPU: Quad core Intel Xenon 3.2 GHz
GPU: Radeon HD 5770 1 GB
RAM: 32 GB DDR3
This is perfect! All it needs now is a decent internal drive and maybe a newer Radeon card thrown in and I’m set!

#Apple #RetroComputingIn late 2005, I waited in the cold overnight for over 12 hours in order to secure an Xbox 360 shortly after launch. The excitement for the new Xbox was tangible.
There will never be another console launch again like this. Additionally, I think the Xbox 360 was the last great console made. Everything since then has been ‘meh.’

#Xbox #Xbox360 #RetroGamingFew things piss me off more than when I go to watch a video on a topic and then the creator wastes your time by not talking about the topic until halfway through the video.
I just watched a 16 minute long video because of the title, and he didn’t start talking about that topic until 11 minutes in.

#YouTube #ContentCreatorMy co-pilot fell asleep on the job!
I made the mistake of trying to watch a video on YouTube using the official mobile app.
Ads at the beginning of the video.
Ads in the middle of the video.
Ads when you pause the video.
Ads while the video is playing in the form of an overlay.
Ads at the end of the video.
This is complete garbage. What kind of human would subject themselves to this torture on purpose?

Before starting Retro Gaiden, I looked for a great retro-themed #Fediverse instance to join & promote. I fully expected to find one.
I did not.
Every instance I found was permeated with politics & social justice commentary. Not to mention, they all had an identical look. Plain and boring. They're all "retro" in name only.
Retro Gaiden is simply the best retro-themed #Mastodon server on the internet and it's not even close. :mastodon:

I just set this up and it’s amazing. The best way to play this game today, hands-down. 🔥

@leo yeah, there was a wave of bots that joined my instance. Enabling Captcha didn’t slow them down at all. The only thing that helped was requiring new accounts to write a reason to join. Haven’t seen a bot since.

For my next livestream, I’m going to play Contra III: The Alien Wars on SNES. I’m going to beat the game on hard difficulty without using continues. This is the only way to fight the true last boss and get the true ending.
Unfortunately, this requires me to hold the controller in strange and unnatural ways. Practicing has made my fingers hurt. :snes:

Geist for Gamecube is a pretty interesting FPS game with unique mechanics.
Back in the day, my friends and family would get together to play 4 player multiplayer matches. It was cool possessing various NPCs and even ceiling-mounted turrets to take out the other players.
After a few nights of playing this, we went back to playing Halo 2 and continued running each other over with Warthogs and Ghosts in Blood Gulch :guilded_shrug:

@Broken_gamer@retro-gaiden.com it’s not just you. Most entertainment media from the last 18 years or so is complete garbage. It’s VERY rare when a new song, movie or game comes out that I find good.
Why hasn’t Microsoft made another Killer Instinct after 13 years? The same reason why Nintendo never made a sequel to F-Zero GX.
You can’t improve on perfection.

@infinitemetal@retro-gaiden.com I plan on upgrading the GPU to a Radeon RX 580 so it’ll be able to easily handle more demanding games.

@JakobFel@retro-gaiden.com the single player game is definitely better than the multiplayer IMO, but it was pretty cool nonetheless.

@PhillipPlays I understand completely. The novelty of carrying around a computer in my pocket has worn thin. I’ve contemplated getting rid of my cell phone entirely numerous times.
