@chadmccullough@mastodon.bsd.cafe @rl_dane@polymaths.social @dwarmstrong@fosstodon.org @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org Just one note, it does not support the compatibility layers. If you need Linux/Windows software, you need to set up a VM. But, if FOSS software is all what do you use, then can be a great pick, Worth note that also it uses X11 with a custom made videoserver, Xenocara. There are some progresses to make work Wayland but I'm not updated on those. Usually I had issues with those compositors on my systems.

The new Starfox 2 seems to me mostly (or just?) a remaster of Starfox 64, with the identical gameplay of the predecessor.
I think is more for those who have a Switch 2, but have not the N64 game and doesn't go for emulation.
I found more interesting the Airwing level in Starfox Adventures in comparison, it was a different level.

I wonder if there are demos for C128 that use the build-in Z80 processor, as main or coprocessor. There are some good stuff for the VDC, but I didn't found nothing yet for the Zilog.
I think nobody really tried to use it, or maybe is so rare that I didn't got the chance to find one.

The C128 VDC is a funny thing. Is a commodore clone of a CGA pc card, and has its own internal memory, that also the main machine "doesn't see" and is served only by the VDC chip itself.
This memory can also be expanded on any C128 with appropriate kit. With the max expansion it can reach some crazy resolution, up to 800x600 monocrome in some demo.

@Oregon_Pacifist@retro-gaiden.com I think to remember right that Macs could be picky about which drive you put them, at least in the PPC line, but they are all with SATA, no issue to put in any kind of cheap disk you have in hands.

@flexion@oldbytes.space uh... could you record a short snippet and show the performance? I love see how this stuff work on different platform/hardware. It's not of course the heaviest sims you could run (already it played well on a plain A500) but still.

@Oregon_Pacifist@retro-gaiden.com Microsoft and Nintendo today are both cooked. Microsoft is able only to screan AIIIII against walls, and Nintendo is drowing in the spoiled milk of the Wii and Switch 2. But while MS can live of cloud for the next two decades, Nintendo is surviving of clever gimmicks from the Wii, and the day they are going to run out of these is the one that is going to burn them for good. That the switch 2 is going less than hoped should tell something.

@MsMadLemon@mastodon.social I'm doing some videos but I do not rely on videomaking. I chosen Peertube as main platform on an instance I see reliable because is managed directly by people, not bots, and in case of issues I can contact them directly. I know my videos are going to stay here and no algorithm affect their visibility. I think later then to upload copies of my stuff also on other platforms like Dailymotion for better visibility, but as auxiliary, not main one.

@Kroc I'm not against new tech, otherwise I would never poked my nose into computers when they were just a niche thing decades ago. I'm against human stupidity that believes machines do miracles instead to being just dumb tools.

@Froogal@derg.social For now I see the reaction isn't uniform. Some distros are pretty open to uniform, and these are mostly the corporate driven like Ubuntu and Red Hat, while other projects or declared their stand against, or they are more into "let's see what happens". Also the issue in US is still open, like Colorado has amended to exempt open source project from their bill. But still, if really FOSS would stand for users, I would like something more from some player than "let's hope".

@witchgirls@woof.tech @chronohart@tech.lgbt I think OpenBSD has a strict no-LLM policy for a matter of code cleaning. FreeBSD doesn't state yet, as far I know, a clear policy, but they are keen to tolerate AI use for side tasks like debugging and translation (parts not critical for the system, and they lack of manpower here) and leave the real programming to humans. Myself, I'm not troubled by AI as tech, but from the details in the middle (like, where comes the database?)
