And Lovelace who built the mathematics underpinning the generalization of computer logic, effectively building assembler as a conceptual model ( since she didn't have real functioning machines of note to work with), the base structures of data encoding.

@blogdiva They also want almost all Jewish people to die, and it's baffling that this is just ignored. All Jewish people to Israel-> Israel is destroyed and all but 10,000 of the Jewish people die -> summoning spell for Jesus. They have been astoundingly clear about it. They definitely are going to full turn into it's fine to harm Jewish people who aren't in Israel, which is what this is a precursor to. Maybe we should take the crazy religious people at what they say they want to do?

@maxleibman@beige.party This has been going on in my neighborhood for the past week. I genuinely thought maybe it was a gun thing the first evening, not thinking of the upcoming date. It doesn't keep me up, and I don't have pets or kids, but if I was in any ( or multiple) of those boxes I would be livid, instead of vaguely irked.

@aphyr@woof.group I strongly appreciate how hard this game was to make and how much thought went into it, and if you described it I would be totally on board but I just completely ran out of steam. Cool, there are these mechanics and those mechanics and you can only spawn these rooms in these locations and you need these qualifiers. Then...oh it just won't work even if you do everything right about 80% of the time. So yeah, kinda just moved on. Loving the bsg game I am currently into, at least!

@aphyr@woof.group I actually stopped playing blue prince because I hated the rng so much. I solved basically every puzzle I found, I even enjoyed taking notes and discovering the various meta puzzles, and I am sure I missed some, but the amount of 'welp you won't see this again for 10 runs' just made it stop being fun to me.

This you can also see a parallel in the Disenchanted show (netflix), which is a parody....of nothing that most of the viewers have ever, actually, seen in a straight up, non-deconstructed format. Conan? Obviously not. Red Sonya? Never heard of it. They know the media-reciprocated trope, but do NOT know the original source.

Don't get me wrong, they're attempting to use him for power and you are absolutely correct to not trust them, but they're actually Republicans ( which isn't a good thing, mind you), while he just donned the affiliation because he didn't think he could get dem party support. They don't -like- him.

And undoubtedly any sensitive topics like Palestine. Well, really, do we want even the over 18s to... And so on. It's always a thing. *ed- As you can tell by there being zero gay people anywhere.

The response, though...pretty hilariously coordinated. Also, I feel like I'm losing my mind, but the WHCD has never been at the white house because it is a conflict of interest/looks bad? So if the ballroom was there...still wouldn't have had it there? Entire point is it's distinct on this one night a year, yes?

Putting those two in conjunction, and then hand waving how social media can keep children from worrying about 'contentious topics'...

Not just solvable, but solved for basically every permutation. We're way past 'this is a difficult problem and we don't know how it works real world' and fully into 'but this will lower our MONEY'.

@aphyr The one that REALLY scares me is when the LLMs start clamping onto and reinforcing the surreality and simulation shit. I don't know anyone who hasn't had a moment where they suddenly wonder if everyone around them is an actor/they're being lied to/doubt of a consensus reality (usually this is like, half asleep, or similar). The problem is that's what cult leaders use, and there's plenty of reinforcement training data for Timmy's Ruxbin to whisper that his parents aren't real.

Honestly trying to codify it always struck me as the Adams joke/example of 'performing Schrodinger's cat' (which was itself a thought experiment on how stupid and illogical quantum mechanics was) We like to anthropromorphize EVERYTHING, and it's suddenly acquiring a dramatically steep unpleasant cost.

There really is no excuse for a simple governor system, except that they dont' want to do any work (see: PGE in CA refusing to do ANY maintence, causing huge fires every year), and nobody's making them.

@weirdestate The stairs look way, way worse than they are, assuming they're like the ones I have used before. The steps are surprisingly short and it's actually fine, as long as you're not carrying anything too heavy and use the railing. The problem is going down them my brain has a little panic reaction. But give me this over most witch step stairs any day.

You can gain deep philospical insights into the nature of reality from a snapple cap motto. It really doesn't matter what the original source is.

The important bit is not to obsess over the origin, but the thought.

@jay I genuinely hated most of the characters in that movie, except for the one you're supposed to, basically immediately, with a giant proviso that Tucci rocks ( both his character and of course his job portraying). Especially her boyfriend and friends, though, probably more than anyone else. But everyone else seems to love it? I can't see what I am missing, so.... (very similar situation with ,'Love, Actually ') I swear I am not going for contrarian! Just... nope.
