I’m a gay nerdy tech guy living with my husband Daniel (@datasaurus@mastodon.social) in Seattle, WA.
I enjoy #lifting, #running, throwing #pottery, #baking, and reading #SFF.
I'm the defacto lead dev and a sysadmin at Distributed Proofreaders (pgdp.net), the largest contributor of public domain ebooks to Project Gutenberg. Currently doing contract work for PG.
I post about random tech stuff, queer stuff, books, and CW'd post-workout flex pics under #gairdyFlex.
At the bus stop with @datasaurus@mastodon.social on the way to the airport.
As they say*: we're going on an adventure!
* Which should strike fear into anyone who has read Children of Ruin.
Sweet baby jeebus we made it. I've been up for 20h and I'm dying. Siesta time.
Who wore it better at Park Güell?
@jonobie@social.coop in 2014 or @datasaurus@mastodon.social in 2026?
The answer is that the throne looks great on both queens 💅
Big travel coming up so I've made sure my emergency documents are up-to-date and my emergency contacts have access to them.
And now that I'm over-prepared everything will be Just Fine with the trip.
Old laptop battery has been taken to the household hazardous waste drop off.
Ballots dropped off in the neighborhood ballot box (at the library, of course).
Last load of laundry has been done.
Aquarium filter has been cleaned (yesterday) and water change completed (today).
I'm getting ever closer to being ready for the trip.
Last workout before Spain. And a great one to end it on as everything felt good and I got a really solid lift in.
Now you all get a break from #gairdyFlex posts for a while.
With apologies to the one person who said no on the poll, here's Twink Casey from June 2011 vs Now Casey. Amazing what 15 years will do.
Goddess I miss that luscious head of hair, but I wouldn't trade who I am today for it. It's funny how much I hated my body back then -- brains are so stupid.
The number of times I've said "Jesus Christ Made Seattle Under Protest*" to myself while bussing through downtown is incalculable.
* This is a mnemonic device to remember the order of the streets in downtown Seattle, south to north, which start with these letters.
My new chest routine is kicking my butt and I LOVE IT. Not yet managing to hit all my reps for all sets at the weight I want but I can tell I'm getting closer every workout.
Now to hone in on that whole eating thing...
Last night I went to underwear night at CCs Seattle for the first time. It felt like a much younger crowd than Lumberyard. Only saw a couple of guys that I knew -- collectively we were probably the oldest people there. Which, fine, I'll be the older furry muscle daddy if I must.
Probably not going again as it just wasn't quite the vibe I was looking for coupled with the location being more effort to get to than I want.
No regrets going though -- I'll never know until I try!
Tried to increase the weight on barbell squats a bit too much too soon but ramped it back down and finished my full workout so I'm going to call that good. Increased the weight on my travelling lunges to 100lbs -- 110 is clearly achievable next session.
Overall a really good leg day.
I've also been using Kagi for my search engine for over a year and have found it has been absolutely worth paying for.
I get relevant search results without ads or AI bullshit. Even better, I'm able to customize what sites I want results prioritized from (ie: Wikipedia, the small web) and what sites to never show me (Meta-owned properties, pinterest, etc).
The old adage applies here: if you aren't paying for something, you are the product.
Queer books for pride update by the numbers:
25 post drafts already written
3 books need posts written about them
2 books need to be found and read
The book I just started may or may not make the cut. I can't decide if the protagonist getting a blowjob in the first chapter is a good or bad sign 😂
>Let's say you suddenly come into ownership of a teleportation device. You can be anywhere at any time.
> Where do you spend _most_ of your time?
Someplace sunny with blue skies as I manage another overcast day here in Seattle. Probably at various points on the Mediterranean. The food, and the men, are sublime in Greece and Italy and Spain, for instance.
ZMODEM is _only_ 40 years old? OMG, I didn't realize it was so new when I started using it.
What, next you're going to tell me that Kermit is only 45 years old?
... WAIT ...
💀
> What's your favorite dessert flavor?
Oh, um, is "sweet" a flavor? I enjoy most all of the typical dessert flavors -- chocolate, cinnamon, coconut, nutella, etc -- and not sure I have a favorite.
