@jenniferplusplus@hachyderm.io this is a very good point. if what we’re calling an “echo chamber” is to be disciplined about the people we follow, the information we take in, and the freedom to remove things from our feed that distress us.. I dunno. it just seems like self-care and setting boundaries to me. if the people in the community you choose to follow do the same, about a thing like genAI that is so clearly an unethical, harmful project led by powerful actors… 🤷

@fasterandworse this is the first thing I thought about when “vibe coding” started getting pushed in our organization. The legacy code this is already creating is enormous. Maybe the thinking is you can just rebuild stuff over and over again from scratch because it’s so fast to do? won’t you eventually completely lose your user base from multiple service interruptions (at a minimum) and catastrophic failures/harm to them (at the worst)?

@taylorlorenz@mastodon.social It *starts* with community (does not seek unsustainable growth, by default). Because hosts depend on the community to fund it, it can’t grow so big as to be exploited (limits to growth are useful to sustain meaningful community connections).
