@dysfun@social.treehouse.systems @davidgerard@circumstances.run FINALLY someone asks me I've been a foldable phone user (in particular book style foldables, I owned a Z Fold 5 and a 7 now) for almost two years now. I think they are really great IF you are a particular kind of person. if you do not enjoy having a large screen on front of you, if you want a rugged and super resistance phone, if you want something that will last 10 years, foldables are not a good pick. foldables have been getting increasingly more durable, but still, the hinge is limited, the inner screen is plastic. it won't explode if you look at it wrong, but you do need to take care of it a little better. insurance is good too because repairs cost a new phone. but downsides aside, i really enjoy having a big canvas to read more comfortably, to do multi-tasking (nowadays all my multitasking is pop-up videos with something else, but i occasionally do split screen). to see images better, videos not that much simply because of the screen ratio, but still, i think the way you hold it makes it more comfortable by default it's hard to explain, i really think foldables work for people that see a foldable and go "this looks cool and worth my time", i think if you immediately think it's a hassle you'll never really see it as very nice tech the new foldables with their super-thin design are also a joy to hold, idk how to explain, but it's great, it's a piece of futuristic tech I'll be happy to answer questions if you have any. i genuinely would not choose a slab phone again if i can
