If/when Dems are in power again, we MUST push them to do this. No more Pelosi-Obama, "War crimes are off the table, we must look forward not back". We as a nation cannot afford it.

The Earth has systems for moving energy from the sun-facing side to the dark space facing side. The energy gets radiated out into space. It's our main cooling system for shedding excess heat.
As each mechanism for moving energy gets pushed to its limit, it strains the ones connected to it and they get closer to failing too. At some point they cascade.
What this looks like is not just higher overall average temps, but weather that is more chaotic. More sudden changes. More intense sudden changes. Unexpected weather at the wrong times of year.
The sort of stuff movie makers have used for decades to show that the planet was in danger, except we're living in it, right now. It's already begun.
Like COVID & Measles, there's a curve. And we've missed the easy fixes already. But it's not too late to put on the brakes and let the Earth heal from human greed.
Yes, to all of this! I started around the same age as you (I'm...a bit older now). It's so encouraging to me to know that young people are able to get this knowledge so much earlier now. Even in places where we are oppressed, at least they *know*.
This says to me to yes, get the shot with my others, but also keep masking in crowded places and don't eat in restaurants.

(It wasn't $19/hr until the end of the 60 yrs; in 1960 it was less than a dollar. Halfway = $8, so rough estimate use $8 for the entire time period)

My other favorite variant and I believe the origin of this is a study in the teens that showed prefrontal cortex and "decision making ability" did not stop changing until around 25, on average. The problem was that transphobes as usual didn't bother to read the full study. The sort of decision making that was tested was immediate danger avoidance vs impulsive goal seeking. Like, "do you try to jump a ditch that might be too big" or, "do you climb farther out on a questionable tree limb to get a reward". That's very, very different from the sort of long term, balanced pros & cons sort of decision making trans teens make.

I was doing good for the first few years, but I don't even bother any more. Keeping track of events since 2016 is just too much. It started out bad. Then it got worse in 2020. Now it's all just a dark, chaotic pit of "things that did happen". It's too overwhelming, you know?

Please don't get me started on what has happened to vehicle operational interfaces. I hung on to my prior vehicle far too long and jumped from never needing to take my eyes off the road to do anything because it could all be done by touch to not being *allowed* to change the album I'm listening to while the vehicle is moving. You know, because I might get distracted by the seven levels of nested scrolling menus.

We're burning more fossil fuels. But the connection seems tenuous. Moderates argue that we have to keep burning in order to build up the alternatives. I'd buy that if the two forms of energy usage chart out as inversely proportional.
