Westlock, Alberta — a town small enough that everybody knows whose kids asked for the crosswalk. In 2023 local activist Benita Pedersen papered the place — public walls, private property, online — with a flyer demanding residents stop a rainbow crosswalk carrying the trans flag. Laurie Hodge, the resident who filed the complaint and who now sits on the town council, took action.
