Get ready for 'meteor Christmas' with an added bonus: a partial solar eclipse
Every August we are treated to one of the best meteor showers of the year: the Perseids. But this year, during the day of the peak, much of Canada will also get a partial solar eclipse.

You don't have to wait for the #Perseids meteor shower to peak to have some meteor scatter fun! You have a good chance of making MS QSO's a few days before and after the peak. The best time to do this is during the early morning hours.
I just made simultaneous MS QSO's on 2m and 6m with the same station (WA4CQG, 821mi/1313km) using MSK144 on 144.150 MHz and 50.260 MHz.

🪷✨☄️💥 This is the best week to see the #Perseid meteor shower ... 60 shooting stars a minute. The #Perseids are easier to see this year due to the diminished light of the crescent moon🌛. Our sky map shows the near-Earth asteroid (or dwarf planet) Antinous. It is as if #Antinous is shooting his arrows of fiery love into your heart💥☄️✨. Here is how to wish upon a falling star: https://antinousstars.blogspot.com/2026/07/antinous-shoots-his-arrows-into-your.html 🪷

The moon is full. It's a special time, ripe with magic. Use it wisely.
The next #NewMoon will co-incide with the peak of the 2026 meteor shower. Weather permitting, this will make for excellent conditions to watch the night sky. And also to harness the increased magic density in the soil in between realms if you are so inclined.
