@SeaFury@aus.social I read that as bitter melon. I eat that quite often here. Never cooked it though.
Replying to
@nihilistnomya@aus.social they're too afraid the boys (sexism at work) would use the dual citizenship to flee at 13. Of course, it's all bullshit.
Replying to
@SeaFury@aus.social this is personally very topical. Wife brought home Assam Laksa for lunch. I've never had it before. She warned me it was super sour. I found it wonderfully flavoursome, but definitely slightly sweet.
Replying to
@SeaFury@aus.social I mean, I've never cooked it. I buy it already cooked at the hawkers.
There was a short film I saw that predicted the use of #PervertGlasses. It's about a guy seducing a girl on date, and he makes all the right decisions because he's hooked his glasses into her social media (mainly Facebook). We see it from his point-of-view, and how the glasses provide him with all the info. It's very creepy.
It was made about 15 years ago, and was pulled a few weeks after I saw it. People found it too creepy...
And yet, here we are.

Old ones: we will fuck you up.
New ones: we will stand at attention and try not to collapse in the heat.
Replying to
@rdm@aus.social Indeed. For the only film I've had funded by the AFC, I spent almost a third of the budget on the sound design. Took just under a week to create for a 7 minute film.

@critter_in_flux careful if you subscribe. I started receiving spam at the unique email address I gave them within a day. This was quite some time ago, but I don't expect their systems to have changed.
Replying to
@keira_reckons@aus.social I see so many women here running with the wrong sports bra. I wince.
@peterw especially pleased they released the special edition of The Gathering instead of the original.

@ppb1701@ppb.social @nixCraft@mastodon.social was going to mention something similar. Also had our kids' school do everything through Facebook and Instagram. Frustrating.

@Christo_459 and engagement would be almost zero. Hashtags and filters are preferred imo.

@timrichards similarly, there's reports in the traditional publishing industry that editors, publishers, and literary agents are using LLMs to summarise drafts sent to them. No forewarning, no consent, just upload to a third party.

@dandylover1@someplace.social just people living in a bubble and thinking they're normal and everyone else is weird.
Replying to
@dandylover1@someplace.social Sorry this happened to you. Reddit is filled with arseholes. Always has been. Unfortunately, Lemmy/Piefed have their fair share too.

@peterw our yearly watch finished in Sept, but I don't have the new version of The Gathering, so it was nice to watch that.

@troberts@theblower.au was the alligator banned because it was considered a bio-hazard or a protected species?
Replying to
@nihilistnomya@aus.social they don't care. They have 50% of the population they refuse to tap into. A few escaping the net won't phase them.
Replying to
@DGI sorry, hard disagree. Kids have to be taught to share. Once they're taught though...
Replying to
@samwilson@wikis.world at least they included entertainment and media. Most of the ones I've had to fill out don't.

@hailey@hails.org sourceforge is still crap, but github is following in its footsteps.

@DeanFarrell @useravoiding @binford2k so will the number and severity of the atrocities. Americans can be brutal when provoked enough.
